Orthopedic Assistant

The Orthopedic Assistant provides orthopedic assistance to physicians in the treatment and care of patients in the OR, Hospital and clinic settings. Tasks include but are not limited to assisting in surgery, casting and splinting, rooming patients, seeing post-operative patients in clinic, dressing wounds, providing patient education, triaging patient calls and other tasks to contribute to quality patient care and services.
The Orthopedic Assistant's work will not exceed the following: (1) Orthopedic Assistant Scope of Practice/Competency Skills checklist and (2) Casting, Splinting and DME training checklist.
All services provided by an orthopedic assistant shall be performed only under the continuous supervision, whether general or direct as applicable to the specific duties/responsibilities of their sponsoring physician or physician designee.
Direct supervision is defined as the physician is present for any patient care being provided. If the patient care is occurring in a surgical setting, the physician must be scrubbed in and supervising the tasks.
General supervision is defined as the supervising physician is immediately available and can be physically present or accessible for consultation with the orthopedic assistant.
Schedule:
Full-time | 60 hours every two weeks | St. Cloud
Day shift | Monday-Friday | Start time either 7am or 8am and working until 4:30pm
Pay and Benefits:
Starting pay begins at $35.85 per hour; exact wage determined by years of related experience
Pay range: $35.85 - $53.77 per hour

Qualifications:
Post high school degree in a filed including but not limited to: RN, LPN, Surgical Technologist, Athletic Trainer, Surgical First Assistant, Orthopedic Assistant, and Orthopedic Technologist; Ten years or more of experience in an equivalent Orthopedic Assistant position including clinic and operating room experience can be approved in lieu of education
2 years of Orthopedic Assistant equivalent position and 2 years of Operating Room experience required
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required
