We are seeking a passionate Associate Level Architect to help create more immersive gameplay experiences. As an Associate Level Architect, you will collaborate with the development team to implement and define memorable levels that blend artistic quality with gameplay design. The ideal candidate has a passion for games and demonstrates a clear desire to learn and grow in their knowledge of architectural principles through their work. Responsibilities
- Support the Level Architecture team with building proxies, designing style guides, and creating modular kits
- Partner with Level Designers to provide continuous support defining the layout, structure, and improved flow of the levels
- Collaborate with the Environment Art team to create vistas, structures, and other elements that contribute to the game world
- Conduct thorough research, gather appropriate visual references, and propose visual direction for props and structures
- Experiment with different layouts and mechanics to find the most effective and enjoyable solutions
- Collaborate with the Lighting team to build interior and exterior lighting layouts
- Participate in playtesting to help iterate, fine-tune graphical details, implement level-of-detail systems, and address issues based on feedback
Requirements
- Well-rounded Architectural knowledge and design skills of different building types and historical styles
- Ability to represent designs in 3D, work with designer blockouts, and integrate proxies into game engine
- Proficiency and experience with at least one 3D software such as SketchUp for modeling
- Proficiency and experience with at least one game engine such as Unreal Engine
- Understanding of performance evaluation and optimization for game levels
- Capable of identifying and supporting gameplay needs and constraints within a game level
- Understanding of modular construction methods as it relates to design, memory, and performance
- Must be a self-motivated and energetic team player with a very strong work ethic and cooperative attitude
- Passion for games and gaming
- A strong portfolio that demonstrates experience of architectural modeling, Archvis, and Previs
Preferences
- A degree in architecture is preferred

The estimated base pay range for this role is: $60,000 - $78,000 USD
