Director, Corporate and Foundation Relations (EX)

Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Philanthropy, the Director, Corporate and Foundation Relations will build and implement sophisticated fundraising best practices and is responsible for the creation and management of a well-coordinated strategic plan to identify, cultivate, solicit, and secure support from foundations, corporations, and government sources. Working collaboratively with the Advancement Department, Director of Community Relations, parishes, and schools, the Director will be responsible for achieving revenue goals north of $5M from combined sources.

The Corporate and Foundation Relations (CFR) program accelerates the Archdiocese of Baltimore’s (AOB) best ideas to scale through partnerships with foundations, the industry, and other social sector organizations. The success of the CFR program depends on the identification and cultivation of new prospects, as well as the continuation of sustained relationships with existing partners. The Director will focus on maximizing broad corporate engagement across the AOB with the goal of building/strengthening strategic partnerships and philanthropic as well as non-philanthropic support.

Essential Functions:

Leadership and Fundraising

• In collaboration with the Chief Advancement Officer and Senior Director of Philanthropy, develop and implement the strategic vision, planning, and execution for building a comprehensive and sophisticated corporate philanthropic plan, including the design and execution of a moves management strategy for each corporation under management to ensure timely steps are taken toward gift solicitation and closure of major gifts and other investments. 
• Manage a personal portfolio of corporate partners to solicit direct corporate investment support, with focus on securing gifts of $50,000 and above. 
• Develop yearly funding pipelines and provide pipeline updates to the Chief Advancement Officer, the Archbishop and other AOB executive directors (including the Archbishop’s leadership team). 
• Solicit and secure financial, in-kind, and all other identified forms of support from institutional prospects. 
• Oversee corporate engagement opportunities within the Archdiocese of Baltimore, especially within the Baltimore City community, forming strong working relationships with important internal and external constituents.
• Develop and implement strategies to ensure corporate support is in alignment with the mission, strategies, and top funding priorities of the Archdiocese of Baltimore and work collaboratively across the organization. 
• Help position the Archbishop, Chief Advancement Officer and other appropriate leaders to build and solidify relationships with C-level executives at key organizations for purposes of increasing corporate and foundation investment. 
• Embrace and support a metric-driven, goal-oriented approach to track and guide overall corporate investment efforts, including contributions other than traditional philanthropy, such as sponsorships, etc., and track and report of fundraising metrics. 
• Explore and manage/respond to corporate leads provided by various board members, donors and key stakeholders. 
• Build new and improve existing relationships between the AOB and its corporate partners by acting as a central point of contact for companies. 
• Perform all aspects of discovery, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities to deepen relationship with prospects and maximize their support of the AOB’s critical programs and initiatives. 
• Conduct primary and secondary research to develop compelling funding proposals and concept notes. 
• Collaborate with AOB leaders to identify and appropriately match engagement opportunities with corporate needs and participate in meetings and events related to the promotion of the AOB and its mission. 
• Integrate the expertise of the entire Advancement Team in corporate and foundation gifts strategies and opportunities, as well as in the design and execution of timely corporate stewardship plans and impact reports. 
• Arrange prospect visits on behalf of senior leadership, program managers, chancellor, etc. as appropriate; develop visit briefings; and actively participate in these visits. 
• Facilitate education and compliance across the AOB with regard to policies and procedures, best practices, and future trends related to institutional affiliations and partnerships, enhancing the AOB’s ability to develop strong and productive relationship across sectors of industry. 
• Write and present persuasive funding proposals and budgets, presentations, cases for support, and concept notes for new and renewed funding opportunities.
