  Your Specific Responsibilities:

 

This highly responsible position provides statewide implementation and oversight of HIV programs in prisons and jails. Provides technical assistance and support for the Department of Health, HIV/AIDS Section in the areas of HIV screening and testing, peer education, prevention education, prerelease planning, and community linkage/follow-up for inmates and releases of jails and prisons statewide. Provides consultation to community-based organizations, the Department of Corrections (DC), county jails, county health departments, and universities for the implementation and/or evaluation of programs for HIV-infected inmates. 

 

Provides technical assistance and support for the development of procedures, guidelines, and reports for corrections programs. Works with various program systems and provides data analysis; prepares reports and makes presentations at local, state and national conferences, meetings, and workshops. 

 

Manages the Jail Linkage Programs, Including providing reporting forms, training staff on standardized procedures and monitoring their progress monthly. Provides technical assistance as it relates to implementing HIV testing technology, adherence to acceptable medical standards in jails, and connecting inmates to medical care upon release. Maintains and updates Department Jail Linkage Guidelines. Host quarterly calls with CHD JLP staff. 

 

Initiates, negotiates, and oversees the Pre-Release Planning Program with the Department of Corrections (FDC). Assist with writing and managing the MOA and ensures timely execution. Reviews monthly invoices and tracks expenditure data. Provides technical assistance and receives outcome data quarterly to assess the success of the program. Completes formal monitoring and accompanies pre-release planners on site visits lo prisons as necessary. Collects, monitors and evaluates program data for program effectiveness. Maintains corrections data and linkage outcome reporting systems. Performs monthly QA check on CARE Ware data.
