Reporting to the Director Internal Audit - AML, the Staff Auditor I - AML is responsible for the completion of assigned independent reviews relative to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) compliance to address all needs of a satisfactory independent review. This AML experienced individual must possess the skill of professional skepticism; verifying and validating full compliance with AML/BSA requirements throughout the business units. This person will interact with mid-to-senior level management to discuss and resolve potentially contentious issues and recommends improved business practices.
This individual will work closely with other members of Internal Audit, will conduct and collaborate with others in assuring the effective planning and execution of AML reviews. This person, may, also complete compliance, financial, and operational audits and special projects at various locations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Perform the planning and execution of AML reviews and interact with mid-senior management in the presentation and discussion of audit findings. This includes the following functions:
- Utilize professional skepticism to verify and validate the completion of required procedures critical to the success of the Company’s AML/BSA compliance program
- Establish and maintain working relationships with senior and operations management, Compliance and IA leadership, regulators, IA staff, and external service providers to ensure adequate communication, cooperation, and understandings exist to execute the AML/BSA independent review strategy timely, efficiently and effectively.
- Ability to exercise professional judgment in maintaining comprehensive AML/BSA audit programs to monitor AML program controls and provide appropriate reports to management and regulatory bodies.
- Assess compliance with governmental and jurisdictional regulatory requirements, financial accounting and auditing standards, and company policies to ensure company assets are safeguarded
- Examine and evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of information systems and business controls
- Compare and contrast property controls with regulatory requirements and generally expected internal controls, communicating significant issues to Internal Audit and SOX management.
- Identify and document business processes and controls in order to evaluate risks and compensating controls
- Contribute to the company’s continuous improvement initiatives by providing advisory and consulting services to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and utilization of company assets
- Assist in assuring audit practices conform to department and professional standards.
- Facilitate meetings to discuss audit findings and consulting services with top levels of management
- Perform a wide variety of special projects that may include collaboration with mid-level corporate or property management

- Must be eligible for occupational (gaming) licensing in various gaming jurisdictions, with primary focus in Nevada.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate to all levels of management
- Knowledge of accounting and auditing principles/standards, and familiarity with various computer systems and applications
- Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently in a changing environment
- Must possess highly developed analytical skills and the ability to think creatively about ways to analyze operations
- Must conduct themselves in a positive, credible, ethical manner at all times.
- Ability to communicate one-on-one and to groups to explain policies and procedures, and to persuade others to accept or adopt a specific opinion or action.
- Ability to effectively present information and/or a convincing argument to management
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Four-year degree in accounting or finance from accredited college or university, or four-year degree with sufficient courses in accounting and auditing required. Two or more years audit, AML, or related business experience required. CPA, CIA, CFE, CISA, or CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist) or pursuit of certification is a plus.
