Role
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for maintaining all production equipment at maximum capacity and the overall maintenance of your assigned plant. The Maintenance Manager will guarantee that maintenance of all equipment is satisfied in accordance with food safety and machine upkeep. The Maintenance Manager will collaborate with other departments at the eggplant to provide our customers with the best product that adheres to SQF, HACCP, GMP and SOP guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Leads staff on assignments, tasks and projects on time and within budget
- Ensures a plan for 24/7 coverage and emergency reply including equipment repair and stabilization
- Oversee the speed and repairs to minimize down time, minimize the use of parts/labor and addresses problem proactively
- Conducts regular assessments of the manufacturing facilities, repairs/improvements
- Guaranteed production operations by labeling work priorities, maintenance schedules and installation of equipment
- Communicate with all staff and provide training and development as needed
- Oversees HVAC, freezer and boiler operations
- Purchases, stores and issues all parts for equipment maintenance
- Works closely with plant management, supervisors and QA to resolve maintenance problems and issues
- Oversee site safety programs, including but not limited to, risk assessments; legal compliance; processes; meetings; and training
- Participates in all required meetings to ensure the continued success of Grand Prairie Foods
- Minimize and monitor downtime and identify areas of improvement
- Maintains a log of all maintenance orders
- Plans day-to-day departmental operations
- Responsible for budget, work methods, and authorization of overtime and controls costs.
- Initiates change in methods and procedures, acts as liaison with other departments, units and organizations
- Directs and supervises the planning, analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation of site training programs to improve plant/personnel performance
- Able to provide troubleshooting for electrical, hydraulic and other equipment and systems
- Develop & Maintains PM program for all production equipment and essential services
- Works with necessary plant management to develop and implement maintenance procedures and operational control procedures
- Allocate resources correctly to maintain R&M budget
- Maintain target machine uptime
- Authorize overtime to control labor costs
- Maintain CMM software system for purposes of tracking work order history
- Involvement in facility, equipment, and process changes; training and mentoring individuals affected by those changes
- Improve maintenance KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) including maintenance safety, downtime, MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures), and productivity
- Plans scheduled downtimes, shutdowns, and maintenance projects
- Manages the execution of major construction and maintenance projects
- Ensures all equipment and other maintenance components comply with all local, state, and federal regulations
- Creating and fostering a culture that promotes safety as a top priority
- Ensure employees are trained on an on-going basis and in compliance with company regulations to ensure work is completed in a safe manner
- Avoid work-related accidents; ensure high levels of engagement from all levels of employees within the facility through positive and effective employee relations
- Collaborate with the leadership team, providing input for strategic direction and business planning
Education, Work & Training Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, industrial maintenance, or related field preferred
- 5+ years of maintenance experience in food manufacturing
- 2+ years in a supervisory or leadership role
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and PLC systems
- Familiarity with CMMS, MaintainX a plus
- Knowledge of the manufacturing processes, procedures, and machinery
- Demonstrate full knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices policies and procedures
- Demonstrate knowledge of safety in a manufacturing environment
