Meta is seeking a Controls Engineer to become part of our Data Center Facilities Engineering team. Our data centers are the foundation upon which our rapidly growing infrastructure efficiently operates and our innovative services are delivered. The Facilities Engineering team delivers proactive and responsive full-life-cycle engineering expertise to the teams who operate and support our expanding global fleet of data centers.
Controls Engineers are involved in all aspects of data center operations, essential to ensuring effective sequenced system operations, monitoring feedback and analysis. They provide direct support to our field teams for new construction, site specific

- Lead technically complex Controls engineering projects for the facilities infrastructure operations team. This includes working cross functionally with other technical organizations including design teams, construction, field operations, vendors and R&D.
- Engineering point of escalation for Controls system issues that occur in our data centers.
- Troubleshoot and engineer enhancements and corrective actions for designs and implementation processes/methods.
- Conduct detailed analyses and audits of Controls system utilization.
- Develop effective measurements and reports from Building Management System (BMS) and other monitoring systems to optimize performance and reliability.
- Evaluate systems to perform effective and efficient load management and capacity planning. Monitor, trend, and develop engineering metrics and statistical data for strategic planning.
- Review new and retrofit Controls designs, commissioning plans, and critical operational procedures.
- Review Controls "as-built" technical documentation and verify accuracy. Investigate actual site conditions and update records.
- Develop and generate specifications, RFPs, ROMs and SOWs for projects.
- Evaluate facility processes and industry best practices to drive efficiencies and effectiveness.
- Routinely report and present to peers, partners and leadership.
- 10 to 30% travel to data center and vendor sites for engineering studies, on-site technical support, Controls systems audits, startup testing, and full commissioning.
- 4 years professional experience in data center engineering, mission critical design, construction, operations, maintenance or related industry.
- 10 years of professional controls engineer work experience
- In lieu of specific work experience within the discipline, either a BS degree in Controls Engineering, (or related field) or an Associates degree in Engineering (or related Technical School certification) plus 6 years work experience within the discipline will be considered.
- Demonstrated experience to research, diagnose, troubleshoot and identify solutions to resolve system issues within discipline.
- Experience clearly communicating technical issues.
- Possess presentation, project management, and reporting skills.
- Experience with computer based mathematical analysis and data analysis.
- Experience driving complex projects under pressure.
- Demonstrated experience to work independently and as a member of a cross functional team
- Applied controls experience in programming development, start-up, and commissioning of electrical monitoring systems, central plants, air handling units, and evaporative cooling / humidification systems.
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and life safety systems associated with critical environments.
- Demonstrated experience to understand and audit blueprints/CAD drawings and controls diagrams.
- Knowledge navigating Building Management System programs
- Professional experience in data center engineering, mission critical design, construction, operations, maintenance or related industry.
- Cross-discipline knowledge of multiple critical facility systems.
- Experience with software programming languages such as Python, PHP, SQL
- Organizational skills and experience beyond the field technician level in activities such as project management, project engineering, and operations management.
- IT/Networking Certification
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration or local equivalent
