About the role

World Central Kitchen, Inc. (WCK) seeks a talented and committed HR Associate to support the Human Resources function. Part of a small and service-oriented team, the successful candidate must possess significant initiative, thrive in a dynamic environment, and provide excellent timely and accurate support across a variety of responsibilities.

This role will report to the Chief People Officer with key working relationships with HR and Finance. This role requires a sincere commitment to WCK’s mission, occasional work nights, holidays, and weekends, and the flexibility to support our teams across multiple time zones.

This role is intended to be a full-time hybrid exempt position based in Washington DC.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and administers effective and timely onboarding of new employees to include day 1 orientation and training, benefit enrollments, I-9s, and taxes
  • Monitors and promptly responds to employee requests for general HR support
  • Accurately and efficiently administers individual employee benefits
  • Prepares, submits, collects, and files employee forms accurately and in a timely manner
  • Maintains employee personnel files, conducts ongoing audits, and provides reports
  • Maintains databases and applications current and accurate
  • Monitor and ensure accurate timekeeping by non-exempt employees in keeping with WCK policy
  • Provides Payroll team all needed forms and information in a timely manner
  • Assists with payroll administration including managing benefits allocations, state registration, withholding, and unemployment tax items
  • Assists with reviewing and compiling various information to ensure compliance
  • Ensure required employment posters are available and posted in a timely manner
  • Supports various policy, systems, and tools implementation and ongoing maintenance
  • Reviews and provides recommendations for process improvements
  • Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Finance or Accounting or at least two to three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of experience and training
  • 2+ years in a similar role
  • Excellent computer skills, including with Microsoft Office, Google, Slack, and Apple products
  • Previous experience with HRIS and payroll systems and software
  • Demonstrated ethical framework and commitment to confidentiality
  • Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills and attitude
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and process-oriented working style
  • Demonstrated ability to work well as an individual and within teams
  • Schedule flexibility to work extended hours and to account for time zone differences
  • Valid US employment authorization

Preferred candidates will also have experience in Sage Intacct or related programs, be proficient in Spanish, written and verbal, and have volunteer experience.
