We are seeking a per-diem Dishwasher/Porter to join our Dietary & Food Services team!

Hours: Per Diem - varied 1st & 2nd shifts

Shift availability between 6:30am-11:30pm

Every other weekend & Holiday shifts required

Location: Lowell General Hospital Main Campus- Kitchen

  • Washes dishes, dishware and silverware by hand or places them in a dishwashing machine.  
  • Records and documents Dish machine temperatures per shift, notifies manager of any occurrences. 
  • Washes work tables, walls, refrigerators and cutting boards. 
  • Sweeps, mops, cleans and vacuums floors. 
  • Removes trash and garbage to designated areas. 
  • Returns empty bottles and cans to recycle bin located in receiving /loading dock area. 
  • Removes crushed cardboard to designated areas. 
  • Completes daily cleaning assignments as assigned or scheduled. 
  • Transfers supplies and equipment within and between storage and work areas such as pantry and dish room. Completes any requisitions as required. 
  • Cleans and sanitizes equipment using specific chemicals to ensure sanitary standards. 
  • Clean and sanitizes all carts after every use. 
  • Polishes stainless steel. 
  • Washes pots using 3 bay pot sink method (wash, rinse, sanitize). 
  • Attends all allergy and foodborne illness in-service training. 
  • Complies with all Department HACCP policies and procedures. 
  • Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner. 
  • Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures. 
  • Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments. 
  • Attends training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated. 
  • Cooperatively adapts to changes, especially crisis situations, such as shorthanded staff, mechanical failures, and disasters, etc. 
     

    Minimum Qualifications: 

    1. Food service experience. 

     

    Skills & Abilities: 

    1. Ability to read, write, and understand written instructions. 

    2. Interpersonal skills necessary to interact with patients, patient care team and employees. 

    3. Familiarity with therapeutic diets 

    4. Knowledge of sterile food handling techniques. 

    5. Ability to operate simple mechanical devices such as coffee urn, dish machine, slicer, trash compactor. 

    6. Ability to use a knife for slicing, cutting, dicing.
