About the role

A US Medical Affairs Medical Director has strong clinical and scientific knowledge of the therapy area and can effectively provide sound & relevant medical advice to internal stakeholders, expertise into the medicine strategy, develop and execute asset-related tactics, support external scientific engagement, lead advice seeking activities, and demonstrate deep understanding of the clinical data and evidence generated to support appropriate use in patients.

Position can be Director or Sr Director level depending on Experience, TBD.

This Benlysta role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Supports the US Medical Affairs Lead with the development and execution of the US Medical Plan for Benlysta.

  • Understands the evolving US healthcare environment (provider/expert) and payer landscape and translates that knowledge into the medical strategy, objectives, and all activities.

  • In partnership with the US Medical Affairs Lead, provides input to shape clinical and health outcomes evidence plans to support anticipated US Market needs.

  • Leads planning and execution of medical tactics in collaboration with the cross-functional Medical Matrix Team.

  • Partners cross-functionally to provide medical input/insights to various internal meetings including Therapeutic Area Leadership, Medical Matrix Team Meetings, Medical/Commercial/Market Access Strategy Meetings and Internal medical training

  • Prioritizes investment in medical activities to deliver the greatest impact on patient care measured via GSK’s Medical Impact Framework.

  • Leads advice seeking activities and other external engagements to advance scientific and medical understanding of the appropriate development and use of medicines, the management of the disease, and patient care.

  • Develops asset strategy to inform support of medical grants, sponsorships, and other collaborations.

  • Partners with Medical Communications & Scientific Training and Medical Information stakeholders to ensure communication goals and medical materials created align with the US medicine strategy and business needs.

  • Applies sound medical governance for all activities.

Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Clinical Practice or US Medical Affairs Experience required.

  • MD, PharmD, PhD, or advanced degree (Masters of Science, MPH).

  • Experience leading and managing cross-functional work.

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Industry and/or clinical experience in the rheumatology therapeutic area.

  • Lupus knowledge and experience preferred.

  • Medical Affairs and life cycle management preferred, including launch support.

  • Understanding of promotional codes/regulations; previous involvement in review and approval processes.

  • Robust networking, communication, and influencing skills to work effectively in a complex matrix environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to build strong internal and external networks.
