Purpose/Introduction

We are currently seeking a leader to join our Operations Team as the Unit 22 Superintendent at the Sweeny, Clemens, Old Ocean Facility. The Superintendent reports to the Operations Manager.  The successful candidate for this position manages all operations functions to ensure safe, reliable operation of the unit.

Responsibilities

• Directs and ensures safety activities on the unit including safety audits, incident investigations, implementation of PHA/LOPA action items, and establishing overall safety leadership for the unit.
• Drives focus on Operational Discipline and improvements in Conduct of Operations to ensure all operational tasks are performed correctly every time.
• Directs and ensures environmental compliance of the unit including proper compliance reporting, investigation of incidents, initiation of environmental improvement projects, and preparation of Title V operating permit compliance reports.
• Sets strategic direction for the unit, directs prioritization and execution of large and small capital and expense projects, prepares annual budget, oversees coordination of maintenance activities, leads continuous improvement efforts, and executes other plant and company initiatives.
• Works with the Olefins and NGL business management to optimize product portfolios, plan production, and resolve business and customer issues including Joint Venture Partner interactions.
• Supervises and leads a team of operators, specialists, coordinators, and engineers to accomplish the goals of the unit.
• Provides direction for support group supervisors, specialists and engineers in their support of unit activities.
• Works closely with the Training Department to ensure training requirements are met and Standard Operating Procedures are effective, accurate and up to date.
• Sets objectives and metrics for employees, conducts follow up interim meetings with comments, determines performance ratings, global competencies, finalizes the performance appraisal with close out comments and provides feedback to the employees.
• Responsible for personnel supervisory activities which include providing a safe and productive work environment, ensuring consistent administration of Plant and Company policies, training and development, maintaining work group expertise, mentoring, and regular coaching.
• Responsible for overseeing all Operations activities for unit turnarounds, including planning activities and daily execution of turnaround work.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering) with a minimum of 7 years manufacturing experience OR High School Diploma/GED with at least 10 years of Operations experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and willingness and capability to learn other job-specific computer programs (i.e. SAP).
• Must have ability to successfully resolve conflict and reach agreement with other functional groups in order to be successf
