Vice President, Product Core Platform Engineering

As the Vice President of Product Platform Engineering at Western Union's technology team in Austin, Texas, you will play a critical role in leading a Product Platform Team and shaping the future of our platform.

This position is essential for the future of the Western Union. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Product Engineering, cross functional teams in Technology and Product Management to create a modular, scalable solution that addresses current challenges and paves the way for our future growth.

Responsibilities

· Provide strategic direction and technical leadership to the platform engineering team, ensuring the development of innovative solutions aligned with our business goals.

· You will be responsible for developing the platform strategy and delivering platform solutions that enable simplification, innovation, reuse, and scalability.

· Lead scalable product platforms to accelerate time to market for product launch, harness scale advantages for cost efficiency, and enhance reliability.

· Influence product solutions and architectures and work closely with executive leadership to drive technology initiatives.

· Lead product platform teams in developing technology strategy, including coding practices, continuous integration, automated deployments, platform scalability, and service orientation, ensuring consistency in processes, architecture, security, and technical governance.

· Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Management, to guarantee the smooth integration of platform services.

· An engaged executive who skillfully coaches the team to tackle complex challenges, guaranteeing scalable solutions that adapt to future architectural changes and designs.

· Establish robust reporting, metrics, and benchmarks to drive timely, high-quality, continuous delivery. Implement top-tier security and compliance practices to uphold the highest standards throughout the development process. Classification: Public (Approved for Release)

Experience & Skills

· 15+ years of experience in Technology engineering, architecture, design, and software development with 5+ years in a leadership role.

· Experience in a financial services and banking institution is essential.

· Recognized as an authority in both the financial industry and the technical intricacies of the platforms.

· Comprehensive knowledge of current industry trends, technologies, and best engineering practices.

· Skilled in composable architecture and proficient in the technical components of various platforms.

· Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills

· Experienced technology leader with a deep understanding of innovative technologies.

· Record of achievement in defining group architecture artifacts for complex solutions.

· Skilled in developing both back end and front-end solutions using a variety of architectural approaches.

· Bachelor’s/ master’s in information systems, Computer/Data Science, IT, Analytics, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Salary

The base salary range is $275,000-$300,000 USD per year, total on target compensation includes a base salary plus long-term and short-term incentives that align with individual and company performance.
