Job Description

  • During your thesis, you will work on a project that addresses reliability issues related to assembly and interconnection technologies, helping us to understand the impact of manufacturing processes on predicting the lifetime of electronic components.
  • As a part of our team, you will research and analyze relevant state-of-the-art approaches.
  • In addition, you will prepare test samples, perform cross-sectional analysis and study microstructure evolution using scanning electron microscopy techniques to provide an experimental basis for your work.
  • Furthermore, you will also investigate how mechanical quantities such as hardness or plastic deformation can be correlated analytically or phenomenologically with the microstructural evolution of Al-bonded wires.
  • Last but not least, you will verify your theoretical results with nanoindentation tests.

Qualifications

  • Education: studies in the field of Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering or comparable
  • Experience and Knowledge: fundamentals of materials science, especially in the field of metals; initial experience with laboratory work, measurement and analysis methods is desirable; knowledge of structural mechanics is an advantage
  • Personality and Working Practice: innovative, enthusiastic, committed, reliable, communicative and team-oriented
  • Languages: good German or English

Duration: 6 months
