The Bill of Material (BOM) Planner is responsible for creating, maintaining, and managing accurate Bills of Material within enterprise systems to support the production and testing of equipment. This role serves as a key interface between engineering, production, and materials management teams to ensure data integrity, smooth production flow, and alignment across multiple functions.
Key Responsibilities
Interface with Windchill and SAP to build, release, and maintain accurate Bills of Material (BOMs) for test equipment.
Ensure 100% accuracy of BOMs by reviewing and validating part numbers, quantities, revisions, and descriptions.
Review engineering drawings and technical documentation to confirm BOM accuracy and consistency with design intent.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Test Engineering, Production Planning, Stockroom, Component Engineering, Quality Engineering, and Program Management to resolve issues and support production readiness.
Troubleshoot system errors and data discrepancies in enterprise systems to ensure uninterrupted production flow.
Support configuration control processes, including engineering change implementation and revision tracking.
Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance data integrity, system efficiency, and communication between functions.
Perform other tasks as required to support the Production Planning and Control (PP&C) team in achieving department goals.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in Business, Supply Chain or a related degree
• Demonstrated ability to work well in both a team environment and alone
• Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and ability to manage various tasks under time-sensitive constraints
• Demonstrated ability to ensure data integrity and consistency
• Must be a US Citizen; this position will require a government security clearance. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.
Desired skills
• Experience communicating with peers, leadership, and internal customers and multi-functional departments effectively on multiple platforms (face-to-face, virtually, email, Teams, etc.)
• Ability to understand engineering drawings and parts lists
• Prior experience with Windchill
• Experience with ERP/MRP (such as SAP, Apriso, Oracle, etc.)
• Ability to learn inventory management, scheduling, and production control, production planning & Control principles, processes, and tools
