The Manager, Scientific Materials and Professional Training, will assist with the preparation and delivery of learning content for a rare disease endocrinology medical affairs organization, which includes at least three endocrine rare diseases. This individual will also support training documentation by entering content into a learning management system (LMS) and our L&D Cognota software.
This role will be tasked with partnering with other Scientific Material and Professional Trainers who in conjunction with subject matter experts, will identify, develop, and deliver disease, product, and skill-based training programs within medical affairs. The Manager will also partner with multiple commercial teams, and other internal Ascendis stakeholders to ensure both knowledge transfer and skills for field-based representation in alignment with the policies and direction of the organization.
This individual will also work with the training leadership to transition knowledge globally with the delivery of training to global partners including the Medical Affairs field teams, the Global Medical Affairs Department Heads and commercial sales teams as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development of the learning strategy of the Medical Affairs, Commercial and Clinical Development organization, building the knowledge and skills necessary to execute on business objectives for the Endocrinology Rare Disease portfolio.
- Work with the leadership to set up a training partnership with various departments, subject matter experts and key stakeholders to identify training needs, design training solutions and lead change initiative implementation while ensuring the content is current, effective, and compliant.
- Contributes to establishing and maintaining a culture which promotes excitement for lifelong learning across the Medical Affairs (MA) community, starting with the maintenance of an effective onboarding program that drives consistency of knowledge in Global Medical Affairs and Commercial Partners.
- In alignment with the MA training strategy, supports the development, execution, and implementation of training activities for the Medical Affairs community, through collaborative partnerships with process owners, including internal stakeholders and cross-functional partners (e.g., Clinical Development) with the direction of the training leadership.
- This candidate utilizes effective planning tools and ensures all training development and compliance standards are maintained.
- He/she identifies and drives training innovation, by seeking opportunities to try out new methodology and technology, that incorporate adult education principles, in order to lead training for a Medical Affairs and Commercial learning community and its key partners/stakeholders.
- Collaborate with and support, as needed, other relevant internal departments including Field Leadership, Market Access, Patient Support, Compliance and HR to develop appropriate training.
- Effectively prepare for instruction by supporting any prior needs assessments, identifying targeted participant characteristics, and working with the leadership to solicit cross-functional feedback before finalizing design and strategy.
- Analyze the characteristics of existing and future technologies and their use in instructional design.
Requirements
- 1+ years of Biotech/Pharma experience in the biotech industry and a terminal degree (DNP, Ph.D. Pharm.D. etc.) required.
- Biotech/Pharma or academic training experience required.
- This individual should be familiar with field medical needs, process oriented and have a problem-solving mentality focused on continuous improvement.
- Track record of designing, developing, and executing successful training projects
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively and work efficiently with people at all levels within an organization.
- Strong and effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to gather, disseminate, and present information in a logical, professional, and audience-appropriate manner.
- Ability to think analytically and critically in evaluation of data and skills.
- Experience with a Learning Management Systems is preferred.
- Highly self-motivated and self-managed; ability to work independently, while enjoying working as part of a team for extended periods of time.
- Proficient organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple tasks and projects at one time.
- Experience effectively supporting the development of a project from its initiation to delivery including internal review committee work preferred.
- Ability to effectively deliver training in multiple formats (i.e., f2f instructor led training (ILT), virtual ILT, self-guided resources)
