Responsibilities and qualifications
DTU Chemical Engineering is seeking a motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our team working on the modelling of a thermochemical biofuel production process. We offer an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of sustainable energy solutions through comprehensive simulation and optimization, as part of the SEAFAIRER (Horizon Europe Innovation Action) project team.
Your primary tasks will be to:
- Develop and implement a model of the thermochemical process (including multiphase flow in CFD)
- Optimise biofuel production and assess economic feasibility, based on multiple variables (e.g., feedstock, process parameters, product quality)
- Design, develop and run process simulations to increase efficiency
- Perform work on relevant software and modelling tools (e.g., Aspen Plus, GAMS, SimaPro, HYSYS)
- Assist in preparing technical reports and presentations, as well as project deliverables ensuring high standards of accuracy and presentation.
You will play a crucial role in accompanying the scientific and knowledge coordination of the project on advanced biofuels and directly report to the Project Coordinator and the Project Manager at DTU.
We also highly appreciate experience in biofuel or other renewable energy sectors and knowledge of relevant decarbonization regulations in the maritime sector (e.g., FuelEU Maritime, EU Emissions Trading System).
As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Process Modelling or a related field.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
The period of employment is 1 year.
