The Senior Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) will play a critical leadership role within the law firm’s finance team. This individual will be responsible for driving the firm’s financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis processes. The Senior Manager will provide strategic insights and actionable recommendations to senior leadership, supporting the firm’s growth, profitability, and operational efficiency. This role requires a deep understanding of law firm economics, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting processes, collaborating with practice group leaders, department heads, and executive management.
- Develop and maintain complex financial models to support strategic decision-making, including scenario analysis, profitability analysis, and resource allocation.
- Analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Prepare and present financial reports, dashboards, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to senior leadership and practice group leaders.
- Partner with business operations, HR, and IT to ensure alignment of financial plans with firm-wide initiatives and objectives.
- Oversee the development and implementation of best-in-class FP&A processes, tools, and systems.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of financial analysts, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, firm policies, and relevant accounting standards.
- Participate in special projects, including strategic growth initiatives, technology implementations, and process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in financial planning & analysis, preferably within a professional services or law firm environment.
- Strong understanding of law firm financial operations, including billing, collections, and partner compensation structures.
- Experience with Aderant a plus.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling; experience with financial planning software (e.g., Adaptive Insights, Hyperion) is a plus.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to senior leadership.
- Proven leadership and team management experience.
- High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism.

Compensation range is $147,000 to $184,000 commensurate with related experience and qualification. The salary of the candidate selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to internal equity, experience, specialty, and training.
