Location: Office-Based / Home-Based / Hybrid in the US. Preferably located near Philadelphia.

 

Position Summary:

Bentley is creating an open platform for the built and natural environment to empower software developers to build digital twin experiences. Cesium (now a part of Bentley) has more than 10,000,000 lifetime open-source downloads for building geospatial visualization and simulation applications, and the Cesium ion SaaS platform for tiling, hosting, and serving 3D geospatial data reaches more than 20,000 monthly active developers.   

Cesium is defining the standard for 3D across industries from the construction site to the battlefield, from outer space to underground. We are in an extraordinary position and are looking for a senior back-end-focused, platform engineer 

 

 

Your day-to-day:

• Help create, document, test, and maintain the REST APIs that define Cesium ion.   
• Work with a team of developers to optimize, grow, and operate our platform – both on the cloud and with our self-hosted solution 
• Support the integration of Cesium 3D data pipeline and analytics into ion to enable users to unlock the potential of massive 3D geospatial data sets 
• Contribute to the architecture planning and implementation focused on increasing Cesium and Bentley platforms integrations. 
• Be an active participant in a collaborative and supportive development environment using GitHub - for code reviews and CI 
• Collaborate with product management on platform roadmap and product line strategy 
• Represent Cesium true to our brand as an authentic authority in 3D geospatial 
• Work in a fast-paced continuous learning environment 
• Minimal travel would be required in this role.
• Requires sitting or standing at will while performing work on a computer (or any other physical requirements).

 

 

What You Bring to the Team:

• Over 10 years of relevant work experience  
• A strong understanding of REST APIs and relational databases such as PostgreSQL 
• Proven experience with container-based development and deployment using Docker, Kubernetes, and Amazon Web Services (AWS)  
• Notable experience with cloud-based architectures such as AWS, Azure, and/or GCP
