Metro State University, Minnesota’s public, urban university, and four-time recipient of the Insight Into Diversity Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award is seeking to hire a Program Support. This is a part-time permanent position within the College of Nursing & Health Sciences.
Job Responsibilities:
To monitor and ensure compliance of student pre-practicum requirements and determine student eligibility to participate in clinical courses offered by the College of Nursing & Health Sciences (CNHS). Ensure that students, faculty and staff are compliant with the requirements of the clinical sites in which they visit. In conjunction with program constituents, establish and enforce a timeline and program plan for collection of pre-practicum requirements to meet the evolving needs of programs, accrediting agencies and external partners.
Minimum Qualifications
The following qualifications are required of all applicants seeking consideration for this position. Only applicants whose application materials clearly demonstrate fulfillment of each of these minimum qualifications will be considered for the position:
- The ability to read and comprehend medical terminology/test results sufficient to evaluate if individual requirements are being met.
- Skilled in customer service to provide prompt, courteous and accurate information to customers in person, on the phone, and through e‐mail and other written correspondence, including the ability to explain laws, regulations and policies to a wide audience.
- Skilled in accurate data entry with the ability to input data quickly and accurately and check input and output data for completeness, accuracy and discrepancies.
- Knowledge of word processing software such as Microsoft Word sufficient to create, format, edit, print, and save a variety of documents, including tables, charts, and graphs. Create reports by combining and presenting data from multiple sources in an organized format.
- Knowledge of spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel sufficient to create statistical reports and use advanced spreadsheet features.
- Knowledge of polices and experience maintaining confidential data as student records and medical information.
Preferred Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in progress.
- Analytical skills sufficient to be able to prioritize tasks/requests in a fast paced/changing environment.
- Familiarity with ISRS or another similar student information system sufficient to pull data quickly and with accuracy.
- The ability to analyze and make recommendations to management for new or revised administrative and program practices and procedures for smooth and efficient office operation.
- Ability to handle competing priorities at one time with diplomacy.
- Adapt to continuous changes sufficient to work constructively under pressure and cope with ambiguity and setbacks.
- Experience using Student Passport, Exxat or similar student tracking software.
- Strong commitment to helping students be successful.
- Detail-oriented and organized.
- Knowledge of state laws and college policies (i.e., FERPA, MGDPA, etc.)
Other Requirements
Physical Requirements of the Job: Requires occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as file folders, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.
Notice: In accordance with the Minnesota State Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State vehicle use criteria and consent to a motor vehicle records check.
Work Shift (Hours / Days of work)
Monday – Thursday, approximately 7:30 am to 12:30 pm, flexibility in schedule is required to meet peek and valleys of position
