USDS Tech and Product at TikTok provides core product platforms and services with leading infrastructure and applications. Our Data Exchange System team provides support to various business-critical applications. You'll be part of a critical SRE team managing these applications, which control data based on compliance and security policies. In this role, you’ll handle complex scaling challenges to ensure the overall uptime, reliability, functionality, and deployments of these applications.

In order to enhance collaboration and cross-functional partnerships, among other things, at this time, our organization follows a hybrid work schedule that requires employees to work in the office 3 days a week, or as directed by their manager/department. We regularly review our hybrid work model, and the specific requirements may change at any time.


We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our site reliability engineering teams and algorithm teams across Trust and Safety Platform, E-Commerce Platform and several other platforms. You'll have the opportunity to manage the complex challenges of scale which are unique to TikTok. As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will lead a team and provide technical leadership to key projects and empowering, growing the team.

Responsibilities
- Lead SRE teams through technical design, implementation, delivery, and maintenance service infrastructure, monitoring, and deployments.
- Lead Algorithm teams through algorithm design, implementation, detections, risk/fraud controls in contents/products/sellers/creators/buyers.
- Lead system design, software development to improve availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency.
- Manage day-to-day operations of system deployment, performance tuning and trouble shooting.
- Manage on-call rotations and responsible for managed systems.
- Influence design decisions and technical direction for engineers, QA and senior leaders.
- Coach and mentor engineers in technical and career growth.
- Maintain effective communication and collaboration with immediate and remote partner teams in completing projects.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
- BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related areas.
- Experience in one or more programming languages such as Go, Java, C++, Python etc.
- 5+ years experience in managing an engineering team on projects with technical deep-dives into code, networking, operating systems and/or storage.
- Strong communication and collaboration skill.
- Demonstrated experience of managing complicated projects and systematically boosting team efficiency.
- Experience with AI strategies like LLM models, RAG workflows, business intelligence, etc.
- Experience with modern SRE practices.

Preferred Qualifications
- MS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related areas.
- Experience in multiple programming languages such as Go, Java, C++, Python, etc.
- Extensive years experience in managing an engineering team on projects with technical deep-dives into code, networking, operating systems and/or storage.
