About the Job

As a Senior Product Designer at Ascertain, reporting to the Head of Product, you will define and design how users experience Ascertain’s products and interfaces. As one of our earliest design hires, you’ll have significant ownership in shaping our product’s strategy and establishing design best practices that will influence our product and culture for years to come.

You’ll work cross-functionally with software engineers, product managers, commercial team members, and end users to ensure we deliver solutions that solve complex healthcare challenges. In this role, you'll contribute broadly to product strategy and should be comfortable balancing deep user empathy, business objectives, and technical feasibility when crafting design solutions.

This position will be based out of our office in New York City on a hybrid basis.

What You'll Do:

• Lead end-to-end product design: Own the entire design process for Ascertain’s products, from initial user research and concept sketches to wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and final UI designs.
• Prototype and iterate: Create user flows and interactive prototypes using Figma and other modern design tools to communicate ideas clearly and iterate quickly based on feedback.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Work closely with engineers and product managers to define and translate user and business requirements into intuitive design solutions, ensuring designs are feasible and implemented as intended.
• User research & feedback: Engage with our commercial team and directly with end users (e.g. healthcare administrators and providers) to understand their workflows, gather feedback through interviews or usability testing, and refine the user experience based on insights.
• Design system & consistency: Develop and maintain a cohesive design system and style guide to ensure a consistent, accessible, and high-quality user interface across all of Ascertain’s products.

What You'll Need:

• 5+ years of product design experience: Proven experience in UX/UI or product design (preferably with web-based applications), demonstrated by an impressive portfolio of work on complex or enterprise software products.
• Expertise with design tools: Proficiency in Figma is a must, along with experience using prototyping and design software to create interactive mockups and iterate on designs.
• User-centered design knowledge: Deep understanding of user-centered design principles, usability best practices, and interaction design fundamentals. You can translate complex workflows into clean, user-friendly interfaces.
• Cross-functional collaboration: Experience working closely with software engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders in an agile or startup environment. You are comfortable discussing technical constraints and business goals to inform your designs and can clearly articulate design decisions.
