About the role
Overview
The Assistant Manager - Business Credit Administration assists the Manager - Business Credit Administration by ensuring the monitoring, maintenance, analysis, and servicing of the CRE and Business loan portfolio, encompassing all loan types from conventional to SBA.
Responsibilities
- Assists in managing financial analysis and annual reviews of assigned existing loan relationships and participation loans; ensures that the loans are graded properly according to the Credit Union’s loan grading policy.
- Reviews collateral property inspections performed by 3rd party vendor(s) and follows up with borrower to remedy identified deferred maintenance.
- Monitors the borrower’s ability to repay the loans as structured through periodic check-ins and information collection; ensures post-closing compliance with loan documents.
- Assists in monitoring the performance of borrowers and guarantors, evaluating and monitoring covenant compliance and financial and industry trends, and identifying problem credits.
- Assists with providing information on a timely basis to participants for loans that have been participated to other institutions as needed.
- Reviews borrower requests, including, but not limited to, assumption, partial release, collateral exchange, modification, waiver, etc. in accordance with Logix established policies and procedures and applicable loan documents; provides recommendation for Senior Management approval.
- Assists in the preparation of loan portfolio reports such as PCRM (Problem Credit Report Memorandum) for audit and management; ensures the audit-soundness of loan portfolio is maintained.
- Monitors critical asset levels through action plan implementation activities and managing loan delinquencies and maturing loans.
- Assists the Manager - Business Credit Administration with developing and implementing Loan Workout/Resolution plans, as approved under appropriate authority.
- With the guidance of management, coordinates with legal counsel or outside collection agencies as needed to minimize LFCU liability.
- Assists in the annual review, updating and development of commercial lending policy and procedures and adheres to current regulatory standards.
- Point of contact for various 3rd party systems and platforms utilized for loan monitoring and servicing.
- Assists in assembling information and reports pursuant to regulatory exams and outside audits.
- Responds to escalated customer inquiries regarding servicing and payment issues.
- Responsible for ensuring loan file maintenance.
- Prepare Commercial portfolio reports (monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual) to be presented to various reporting committee with assistance from Manager
- Ensures that the Annual Shock test is performed on the loan portfolio.
- Co-planners on the annual performance review.
- Assist in providing objective and sound judgment on employee matters, i.e. coaching, counseling, employee development, etc.
- Assist as another level of engagement with employees to foster continuous positive feedback and connect new hires with our CATFISH values.
- Responsible for being the team leader for the department.
Qualifications
Education
- Min/Preferred: Minimum
- Education Level: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree
- Description: Bachelor's degree in business administration or related discipline
Experience
- Minimum Years of Experience: 5
- Preferred Years of Experience:
- Comments: A minimum of 5 years’ experience in commercial lending.
Knowledge, Skills & Ability
- Strong analytical skills (property operations, borrower/guarantor financials and market performance), with experience modeling historical and projected financial analyses in Excel.
- Excellent knowledge of commercial credit policies and procedures.
- Excellent credit analysis and accounting skills.
- Good organizational skills.
- Ability to assume responsibility and accountability for credit recommendations and decisions.
- Ability to work well independently and in teams and interact effectively with all levels of Credit Union personnel and outside contacts.
- Have current knowledge of Commercial Lending and SBA regulations and SBA servicing requirements.
- Know proper documentation for CRE and SBA loans and have the ability to review loan documents for compliance with Rules and Regulations.
