In this position...
You will be a key member of the Vertical Electrical & Software Architecture (VESA) team. The VESA team owns the complete vehicle electrical and software architecture for each FNV4 program. We work with the horizontal architecture teams (those aspects of the electrical and software architecture that are the same across different vehicle programs) to fully define the architectural content of each program. Key work areas for the team include developing a comprehensive architectural specification for upcoming (yet to launch) vehicle programs. You will work with the various functional teams to validate and document Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Our team will also be working on the future of Ford’s electrical architectures. As part of the Vertical Electrical and Software Architecture team you will:
What you'll do...
- Own the definition of the vehicle electrical hardware and software architecture for each of the FNV4 programs from program creation through post launch.
- Create and manage portions of an architectural specification for the upcoming programs. This specification shall define the components, and their interactions for each program.
- Capture the content of the electrical and software architecture, for defining updates to the platform to support program specific features and functions and for leading the resolution of architectural issues on the programs.
- Work with various functional teams on the electrical architectural KPIs such as latency, power utilization (including Key-Off Load), network bandwidth, CPU Utilization, etc.
- Resolve electrical architectural issues from pre-launch through post launch of the new programs and architecture.
- Design the future computing platforms, tying into the overall image of sophisticated EE architectures that drive the company.
- Be involved Ford's development of sophisticated computing solutions for our next generation EE architectures.
- Operate required machinery and equipment in a safe manner following established safety rules.
- Maintain a neat and clean work area, following established tool and instrument control procedures.
- Report any unsafe acts or conditions to his or her immediate supervisor.
You'll have...
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field
- 3+ years of experience with automotive electrical architectures
- 1+ years of experience with modeling/simulation tools including Magic Draw, MATLAB, Simulink, etc.
- 1+ years of experience with automotive microcontrollers and/or microprocessors (coursework/internship/co-op experience allowed)

- Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field
- 5+ years’ experience with automotive electrical architectures
- 3+ years’ experience with modeling/simulation tools including Magic Draw, MATLAB, Simulink, etc.
- 1+ years of experience with automotive microcontrollers and/or microprocessors
- Detailed understanding of vehicle electrical systems and electrical design/development process
- Experience with automotive and/or other advanced networking.
- Familiarity with ISO 26262
- Familiarity with vehicle I/O
- Understanding of the Product Development Engineering project processes including GPDS
- Ability to quickly learn.
- Strong organization skills, attention to details and ability to work with multiple people.
