Join our Global Real Estate and Facilities Engineering and Technology (E&T) team in El Segundo, California as a Mid-Level Facilities Mechanical HVAC Engineer to provide support for the Southwest Region.

You will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with customer requirements, building codes, and regulations. Your expertise in design/construction principles, practices, and materials will guarantee the safety and stability of our infrastructure systems.

You will also have the exciting opportunity to contribute to asset management by conducting studies, analyzing current conditions, and collaborating with stakeholders. You will provide valuable recommendations for capital improvements. Your insights and expertise will shape the future of our facilities and infrastructure.

As a Mid-Level Facilities Mechanical HVAC Engineer, you will develop technical design statements of work, review final designs, and provide rough cost estimates for various projects. Your meticulous attention to detail and commitment to safety will ensure that our buildings, equipment installations, utility systems, and grounds, meet the highest standards.

Candidate shall:

  • Have design experience in the building mechanical HVAC engineering field

  • Possess strong knowledge of mechanical upgrade for HVAC systems

  • Provide technical expertise and advice on current system capacities and capabilities, as well as the impact of planned modifications and the development of backup operational plans for system outages or failures

  • Recommend system upgrades and replacements, considering factors such as life cycle, cost, design, savings, and efficiencies

  • Support and lead the design, operation, and maintenance of on-site HVAC systems such as chillers, cooling towers, boilers, air handling units, compressors, associated ductwork, piping, controls, etc.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop moderately complex conceptual designs, cost estimates and provides maintenance support for the architectural phases of buildings, equipment installations

  • Coordinate the activities of multiple engineering disciplines, outside consultants and government agencies in developing technical designs, final designs, and cost estimates ensuring safety and stability

  • Develop moderately complex conceptual analysis to determine the cause of asset failures and reduction in asset capacity by using reliability tools and methods (e.g., life cycle analysis, condition-based maintenance, root cause failure methodology, mean time between failures, fault tree analysis, etc.)

  • Ensure accuracy of drawing archives/libraries by reviewing contractor redlines

  • Identify errors and documents construction changes to comply with regulatory requirements, facility standards, and record retention requirements

  • Support construction projects by providing input on vendor selection; review contractor proposals; interface with government/regulatory agencies

  • Prepare and present project information to ensure compliance with applicable construction documents and jurisdictional requirements and to meet project objectives

  • Prepare contingency plans for interruptions or equipment failure

  • Develop and implement conservation projects and coordinate across

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree or greater in mechanical engineering

  • 5+ years of experience with Industrial Equipment Maintenance/ Environmental (HVAC) and Mechanical Control Systems

  • 5+ years of experience reading and understanding engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications

  • 5+ years of experience using AutoCAD or a similar software

  • Self-starter and have the ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience applying Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), or other similar rigorous problem/analysis/resolution, processes to engineering development and manufacturing/production efforts.

  • Experience assisting with reliability processes in engineering.

  • Experience in reliability and maintenance methodologies and tools

  • Experience determining the cause of asset failures and reduction in asset capacity by using reliability tools and methods (e.g., life cycle analysis, condition-based maintenance, root cause failure methodology, mean time between failures, fault tree analysis, etc.)
