This is what you will do:
Alexion seeks a dynamic, hands-on leader to lead a team supporting Strategic Sourcing for Alexion’s US Commercial & Medical organizations. This role will continue developing the Commercial & Medical Sourcing Team as a strategic business partner, anticipating and leading change that is best for both the enterprise and the Commercial and Medical organizations. The position will manage Commercial’s and Medical’s global strategic sourcing efforts to efficiently and effectively enable spend owners to maximize the value they receive from suppliers to meet their objectives. The leader will work with Commercial and Medical leadership to coordinate and manage their sourcing efforts, balancing the need to meet Alexion’s needs with AstraZeneca’s global enterprise strategies.
The Director will work closely with internal stakeholders from initial need identification to final goods or service delivery. Beyond cost reduction and cash flow generation, Strategic Sourcing delivers additional value to Alexion through core offerings to achieve world class results and leverage our supply chain as a strategic capability:

This will be accomplished through a team of strategic sourcing professionals working for and with the various stakeholders and suppliers selected to meet their needs.
The Director, Commercial Sourcing & Medical Affairs will be a self-starter in a very dynamic environment with the ability to identify opportunities for strategic sourcing to partner with the business and to continuously improve current processes. The leader will also develop strong partnerships with senior business leaders to support services provided to the Commercial and Medical teams, including Finance, Information Technology, Compliance, Legal, HR and R&D. You will interact regularly with global teams in the US, EMEA, Latin America and Asia-Pacific.
You will be responsible for:
Develop and execute clear category management, strategic sourcing, and procurement strategies in support of Alexion’s Commercial & Medical organizations.
Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure effective alignment that support business requirements while appropriately managing quality, speed, cost, risk and ease-of-use.
Be knowledgeable in market trends, benchmarks, and best practices across categories under management. Use this knowledge to optimize results and drive a high standard of excellence.
Lead sourcing events, initiate and negotiate contracts commercial terms and cost.
Partner with suppliers and internal stakeholders to identify, manage, escalate, and resolve issues related to supplier performance.
Develop and foster a supplier experience that nurtures the perception of Alexion as a “customer of choice.”
Perform contract compliance reviews to determine compliance and contractual obligations
Assist with budget/forecasting needs, such as accruals, project budgets, etc.
Lead and contribute to complex functional or company initiatives
You will need to have:
Bachelor’s degree
10+ years of Bio-Pharma commercial industry experience, specifically in procurement and/or category management
Exceptional negotiation skills; you are a tenacious problem-solver with a focus on building mutually beneficial relationships
Ability to use a range of influencing techniques and manage multiple projects/tasks effectively
Proven experience in change management with strong analytical and financial skills
Proficiency in procurement and other business-related systems, e.g., ERP, Ariba
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence others and proven experience in managing/leading a team
Strong organizational and facilitation skills, as well as great attention to detail

Advanced Degree ; CPSM or equivalent
