Summary
The Department of Health and Fitness Studies at Regis College is seeking Adjunct Lecturers for the Fall 2025 semester to teach various therapeutic recreation courses.
1. THR 400 – Seminar in Therapeutic Recreation. This final course will be taken concurrently with the internship experience in the student's final semester of the program. Current trends and issues in TR/RT, including evidence-based practice and practice-based evidence will be discussed. Students will address such issues as professional conduct, ethics, professional development, interprofessional collaboration, cultural competency, and other relevant professional issues in therapeutic recreation.
It is a 15-week course that begins on September 2nd and runs through the fall semester. The course is taught asynchronously online. The course outline and textbook are available for the instructor, as well as previous Moodle course materials.
2. THR 402 – Internship in Therapeutic Recreation. This course is a combination of academic assignments and experiential learning. Each student must complete a minimum of 560 hours in a 14-week time period during this course to be eligible to sit for the NCTRC exam. This course is supervised by both a CTRS on site and a CTRS at the academic institution. Students must be admitted to the TR program and complete all necessary paperwork prior to participating in this experience.

Responsibilities Include
- Teach THR 400 Seminar in Therapeutic Recreation (lecture) as an asynchronous, online course and/or teach THR 402 Internship in Therapeutic Recreation synchronously or asynchronously and act as faculty supervisor for the students in the internship.
- Engage with all responsibilities associated with teaching: content preparation, grading, office hours, student engagement, academic assessment, etc.
- Meet with Dept. Chair periodically to discuss content, student progress, challenges, etc.
Qualifications
Qualified Candidates Must Possess
- A Master’s degree or higher in Therapeutic Recreation/Recreation Therapy
- Maintain a valid Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) credential
- Experience and expertise teaching about interprofessional, trends in therapeutic recreation, preparing students for the NCTRC exam, and other skills to be a well-rounded CTRS
- Evidence of prior teaching experience at the undergraduate level preferred; prior student internship supervision preferred if teaching THR 402
- Commitment to creating an inclusive classroom learning environment in keeping with the University's commitment to inclusive excellence in a diverse educational community.
- Ability to collaborate with other faculty
- Ability to utilize technology necessary for teaching including but not limited to: Office 365, Moodle, Zoom, library and other online resources.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
- Ability to perform all duties necessary for online classroom instruction
- Ability to sit or stand for an extended period of time at a computer monitor
- Ability to utilize technology necessary for teaching, grading and communication with students
