Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Transportation Data Science Intern to be based in Sanford, FL.


This position is expected to begin immediately. 
 

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Deliver full-stack software products on ITS and traffic-related projects with integration in existing environments and enterprise datasets.
  • Build on existing NodeJS APIs to create web application components interoperable with existing workflows.
  • Build efficient microservices, SQL transactions, and data management architectures to maintain an excellent user experience.
  • Work in Linux and Windows environments with enterprise tools for modern, secure web products.
  • Develops an awareness of standard practices, techniques, and procedures under supervision.
  • Research alternate solutions and design options in support of the project team, e.g., identify and implement best practices.
  • Communicates and collaborates with ICM team, client, project stakeholders, and others.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Candidates must be currently enrolled in a university program pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Civil Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with the intent to continue after the internship unless graduating.
  • Candidates must have completed three years of study in their program.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience with JavaScript, NodeJS and T-SQL.
  • Experience with Websockets, NGINX, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, Maplibre GL JS, Kafka, and responsive UI design.
  • Experience with data ingestion/transformation and visualization.
  • Thorough knowledge of REST API best practices and concepts and the ability to use it in practice.
  • Ability to work with geospatial datasets including unit transformations, coordinate reference systems, and geojson.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to present a portfolio demonstrating experience relevant to the preferred qualifications and job description is a plus. 
  • Self-motivated individual who embraces lifelong learning and excels in self-taught skills.

  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
  • Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.
  • This position requires a hybrid work schedule which includes in-office work in Sanford, FL, with the potential to work fully remotely.
