About ConcordanceConcordance’s reentry program is designed to dramatically reduce recidivism by helping individuals with justice involvement lead meaningful, abundant, and joyful lives. Our holistic, evidence-based model offers a wide range of services - therapy, case management, yoga, behavioral health and substance use recovery groups, spiritual care, life skills, medical care, education, and job readiness. Each participant is formally supported by our Care Team for a full year, ensuring stability and long-term success. Now operating in Missouri, South Carolina, and Virginia, Concordance is a national leader in compassionate, innovative reentry care.

Position Overview:The Director of Human Resources (HR) will oversee all aspects of the HR function to ensure Concordance attracts, retains and supports a diverse and mission-aligned workforce.  

This strategic and hands-on leader may manage a small team and serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on HR best practices. The ideal candidate will bring experience across the full HR lifecycle, including recruitment, performance management, benefits administration, employee relations, compliance and culture-building. Experience with payroll processes is a strong plus.  


Key Responsibilities - your role will involve:

Strategic HR Leadership  
  • Serve as a thought partner to the CEO/COO/CAO on organizational development, workforce planning and change management.  
  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with Concordance’s mission, values and goals.  
Talent Management and Development 
  • Lead recruitment and onboarding efforts to attract high-quality, diverse talent.  
  • Oversee performance management systems, coaching leaders on goal setting, feedback and development.  
  • Support employee engagement and retention initiatives.  
Employee Relations and Compliance  
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws and regulations.  
  • Manage employee relations issues with discretion, fairness and alignment to Concordance values.  
  • Maintain and update employee handbook, policies and procedures.  
Compensation, Benefits, and Payroll 
  • Oversee benefits administration, annual open enrollment and vendor relationships.  
  • Partner with Finance and/or external vendors to support payroll processes; payroll experience helpful.
  • Conduct periodic compensation, benchmarking and analysis.  
Team Management  
  • Lead and develop a small HR team (1-2 staff) fostering a collaborative and service-oriented culture.  
  • Provide guidance and training to supervisors and managers on HR-related topics.

Required Education, Licensure, and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field required; HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR), preferred. 
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible HR experience, including generalist responsibilities across all functional areas. 
  • Experience working in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization, preferred 
  • Payroll experience, strongly preferred. 
  • Knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices. 
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage confidential information with integrity.
