Gravel Train/Doubles Driver (Home Daily)

Description

We are urgently seeking experienced gravel train drivers to fill a gravel train position in the Newport area. The Gravel Train Driver should expect to load and deliver product safely and maintain a professional image when interacting with customers, vendors, and other drivers. This is a local position with a home daily schedule.

*Preference given to candidates with 6 months to 1 year of verifiable experience in doubles or gravel trains*

Essential Duties:

• Follow appropriate safety procedures for transporting goods

• Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order

• Collect delivery instructions from appropriate sources, verifying instructions and routes

• Inspect loads to ensure that cargo is secure

• Maintain logs of working hours or of vehicle service or repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations

• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the appropriate parties

• Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required

• Check all load-related documentation for completeness and accuracy

• Drive trucks to weigh stations before and after loading and along routes in compliance with state regulations

• Couple or uncouple trailers by changing trailer jack positions, connecting or disconnecting air or electrical lines

• Check trailers after contents have been unloaded to ensure no damage and all product has been removed

Requirements

• Licensed CDL Class A Driver

• Must have an acceptable MVR

• T Endorsement (Doubles Endorsement)

Preference given to candidates with 6 months to 1+ years of verifiable gravel train driving experience

Class A vehicle operation experience

Valid med card

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds

• Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol screen

• Must be able to pass a DOT physical
