Work Schedule:
7:45 to 5:15 M-TH, 4 hours on Friday
Rate of Pay:
This is a Full-Time Support Staff position at grade 12, with an annual salary range of $41,926 to $55,901. The salary offer will be based on education and experience, in alignment with the College’s compensation philosophy and the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), if applicable.

Job Summary:
An employee in this classification performs work of moderate difficulty by providing quality care for the children of students, staff and faculty of the college. Work is defined by the ability to plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum, maintain the classroom and keep accurate records of the center’s daily operations. Will assume responsibility for emergencies in the absence of the Director and/or Supervisor. General supervision will be received from the assigned manager.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
1. All new child care directors hired on or after July 1, 2017 shall have a minimum of an associate degree in child development or early childhood education, or the equivalent (defined as 64 semester hours in any discipline with a minimum of 21 semester hours of college credit in child development, early childhood education or early childhood special education) and either a Gateways to Opportunity Level I Illinois Director Credential (see 89 Ill. Adm. Code 50.720(b) and http://www.ilgateways.com/en/illinois-director-credential-idc) or 3 semester hours of college credit or 3 points of credential approved training in administration, leadership or management.
2. Effective July 1, 2017, licensed child care centers must have an employee on site at all times with a minimum of an associate degree in child development or early childhood education or the equivalent (defined as 64 semester hours in any discipline with a minimum of 21 semester hours of college credit in child development, early childhood education or early childhood special education).
3. Good knowledge of the State of Illinois licensing standards and regulations.
4. Considerable skill in verbal and written communications.
5. Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the department including days, evenings, and weekends.

Essential Duties:
1. Supervise children and staff in classroom; engage children of differing ages and developmental stages in classroom activities.
2. Provide a nurturing environment to help foster the children’s cognitive, physical, emotional and social growth. Care for children; ensure children are eating healthy foods and are adhering to any dietary restrictions; encourage healthy habits (routine hand washing, etc.)
3. Assist in the planning of age-appropriate curriculum that will encourage the children’s developmental growth.
4. Maintain a clean, healthy classroom environment; clean and disinfect classroom and equipment routinely.
5. Maintain accurate records of the center’s daily operations, carefully documenting the children’s progress.
6. Establish and maintain open communications with parents and report regularly on the children’s progress, as well as any incidences involving the children.
7. Assume responsibility for the program in the Director and/or Supervisor absence.
8. Maintains required training, licensure and/or certification
9. Maintains confidentiality of privileged information and adheres to applicable privacy laws
10. Demonstrates sensitivity, understanding and respect of diverse populations within the workplace
11. Maintains an understanding of the work of colleagues to effectively provide back-up and/or support for co-workers during times when the division is short-staffed or experiencing an increased volume of work
