Summary of Position
Performs clerical, administrative, data processing, and accounting work, assisting the Chief Accountant.
Organizational Relationships
- Reports to: Accounting Supervisor
- Directs: This is a non-supervisory position.
- Other: Has frequent contact with vendors and other outside entities such as other political subdivisions and utilities.
Examples of Work
- Maintains general ledger information and reviews financial transactions by creating and/or monitoring electronic files and/or accounting documents.
- Maintains accounting ledgers by posting/reviewing accounting transactions of intermediate dollar value and complexity, ensuring transactions are processed
- Collect all purchase tickets, analyze, match to invoices, process accounts payable checks, maintain records of all vendors, and process 1099s at year-end.
- Collect tax collection information from the Tax Assessor and enter it into spreadsheets.
- Order uniforms and any related items for employees and new-hires. Order any safety equipment, ie., gloves, safety signs, logos.
- Run the mail machine and the postage machine on monthly billing days.
Minimum Qualifications
A minimum of two years of accounts payable experience in a fast-paced, high-volume position. Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to Accounting preferred.
Peripheral Duties
Provides backup to all administrative positions.
Tools and Equipment Used
Computer, 10-key calculator, phone, fax and copy machine, mail, and postage machine.
