UIS is a multidisciplinary engineering and construction company. We provide fully integrated design-build services to our clients in the high-technology industry for their manufacturing facility needs. Our scope of services includes engineering design, high-tech factory planning, and on-time equipment and material delivery in which clean-room systems, HVAC, electrical systems, and tool hook-up, are all vital parts in need of total coordination.

United Integrated Services (USA) is seeking an Assistant Superintendent (Crane) to join our team! 

The Assistant Superintendent supports the Superintendent in overseeing all crane operations on the construction site, ensuring the safe and efficient lifting, moving, and placement of materials. This role requires strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of crane operations, and adherence to safety regulations and company policies. The Assistant Superintendent will coordinate with site supervisors, equipment operators, and rigging crews to execute lifting plans effectively.

** This is a full time onsite position located in North Phoenix, AZ (85027).** 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Supervise and coordinate crane operations, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and project specifications.
  • Oversee crane operators and rigging teams, assigning duties and monitoring performance.
  • Oversee material movement at the construction site to properly schedule crane activity.
  • Inspect cranes, rigging equipment, and lifting accessories to ensure they are in proper working condition.
  • Develop and implement lift plans in coordination with site engineers and safety personnel.
  • Conduct pre-lift meetings and safety briefings to company personnel and communicate job site hazards and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, ANSI, and other relevant safety and operational regulations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to crane operations, including mechanical problems or safety concerns.
  • Maintain accurate records of crane usage.
  • Work closely with project managers, site supervisors, and other trades to optimize efficiency.
  • Train and mentor UIS personnel to enhance skills and safety awareness.
  • Enforce safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Assist with the preparation and submission of required project documentation.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.         

Education/Experience:

    • High School Diploma/GED; Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, or a related field.
    • 5+ years of experience in construction, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role overseeing crane operations.

Skills and Competencies:

    • Strong understanding of construction processes, methods, and best practices.
    • In-depth knowledge of crane operations, lift planning, and rigging practices.
    • Strong understanding of safety regulations and industry standards related to crane operations.
    • Strong knowledge of lifting techniques, rigging procedures, and crane load charts.
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, lift plans, and technical manuals.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
    • Ability to use inventory management software.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
    • High level of attention to detail, and highly organized.
    • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
    • Ability to effectively prioritize responsibilities depending on project needs. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, and employees.
    • Ability to develop and maintain successful relationships with all levels of employees, clients, and subcontractors.
    • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a professional attitude.
    • Ability to work in a construction site environment (trailer office).

Language Proficiency:

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
