United Way Miami, Inc. is hiring a VP, Finance to join our team. As VP, Finance, will manage the UWM and subsidiaries’ accounting operations and ensure good organizational financial health. This position oversees the core financial functions, including accounting, reporting, compliance, and operational finance, with alignment to strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will bring exceptional leadership and technical expertise to manage financial activities and partner closely with the CFAO on strategic initiatives.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee and prioritize the activities of the finance and accounting staff. Responsible for the general ledger, cash and investments reconciliation, accounts payable and receivable, collections, revenue recognition, grant fiscal administration, and fiscal agent services. Ensure the timely and correctness of all general ledger entries by compiling and analyzing asset and liability account information; maintain fixed asset register and depreciation records. Review cash reconciliation and maintain proper cash flow analysis with expected funding needs. Ensure accuracy and timeliness of all financial transactions while ensuring compliance with GAPP and regulations.
- Prepare all financial reports; provide monthly detailed analysis of financial activity to team and department management, including proper tracking of respective revenues and expenses. Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, efficiencies, and cost reduction opportunities.
- Review the collection status of all accounts receivable. Identify past due accounts and direct collection efforts; ensure adjustments to the sub-ledger to correct account information; prepare collection tracking reports and special analysis requested by donors, management, and volunteers.
- Protect the organization’s assets by establishing, monitoring, improving, and enforcing internal controls and procedures. Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and standard operating procedures. Optimize financial systems, tools, and processes to improve reporting accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Prepare organizational annual and semi-annual budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; and recommending revenue and expense plans.
- Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors. Oversee regulatory reporting, including all required planning and compliance, and ensure proper preparation of all tax and other legal annual requirements. Support the fiscal aspects of grant funding.
- Responsible for the timely annual financial report. Maintain proper communication with the fiscal agent entities’ management.
- Lead and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering professional growth and accountability.
- Responsible for the supervision of subordinate employees, including training, developing, measuring performance, disciplining, and directing tasks. Has the authority to hire, transfer, promote, compensate, or terminate subordinate employees or recommend such actions.
