Job Summary
The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Murfreesboro is accepting applications for an Accounts Receivable Support Associate at its Murfreesboro campus. The Accounts Receivable Support Associate reports to the Finance and Business Operations Coordinator. The person in this role will be responsible for incoming payments and will help process, track, and record payments in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner and in compliance with TBR and federal policies and standards.
Job Duties
- Perform Accounts Receivable transactions for the college.
- Monitor/screen invoices and forward to Accounts Payable clerk.
- Create third-party contracts in Banner for students sponsored by agencies and corresponding invoices in QuickBooks for tracking.
- Prepare and submit student refunds through Banner.
- Monitor/maintain student receivables.
- Maintain strict confidentiality as it relates to the financial information, employee
- information, student records, student financial aid, state and federal reports and any other information generated from the Business Office and the Tennessee College of Applied Technology Murfreesboro.
- Reconcile daily receipts, prepare bank deposits for Murfreesboro campus, and upload journal entries into Banner system to identify daily receipts.
- Assist the Finance and Business Operations Coordinator with various analyses, reports and duties.
- Reconcile and track monthly bookstore commission earnings.
- Close all cashier sessions daily for applicable staff.
- Communicate with students with professionalism and confidentiality regarding account balances per TBR policy.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of all A/R transactions.
- Ensure compliance with FERPA, internal policies and financial reporting standards.
- Prepare reports for audits, grant compliance and month-end financials.
- Maintain accurate records of student accounts and perform regular aging analysis.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree or higher plus four or more years of successful full-time paid employment in accounting, including maintaining or reviewing financial records and reconciling accounts.
- Experience in performing the duties of the job may substitute for the post-secondary course work on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Accounting or related field.
- Prior government accounting experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must show evidence of good character, organizational skills, and mature attitude.
Evidence of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Teams, and QuickBooks. - Good oral and written communication skills; ability to deal tactfully with the public and co-workers.
- Ability to prioritize projects, attend to multiple processes simultaneously, and
- meet deadlines.
Logical problem-solving skills for researching and reconciling accounts. - Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and their application, and an understanding of applicable Federal and State laws.
- Good math skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to concentrate/focus for long periods.
Physical Qualifications:
- Walking, bending, sitting, and squatting in order to operate campus equipment.
- Able to use body members (arms, hands, fingers), tools, or special devices to work, move, guide, or place objects.
- Communicating for brief periods.
- Sitting at a computer for extended periods to enter data.
- Requires concentrated mental and visual attention, i.e., see at close range.
- Lifting at least 20 lbs.
Salary Range:
This is a full-time non-exempt position. Salary is commensurate with qualifications, education and experience according to salary guidelines established by the Tennessee Board of Regents. Salary range: $33,000 to $42,000.
