The Department of Economic Security, Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Medical Director. DDD provides individuals with developmental disabilities, and their families, services and supports that are flexible, high quality, and member driven. These services empower individuals with developmental disabilities to lead self-directed, healthy, and meaningful lives.

Applicants for this position cannot be licensed or certified by the DDD Office of Licensing Certification and Regulation, cannot have a principal interest in or have a spouse or a close family with principal interest in a DDD Qualified Vendor Agreement, and cannot be employed or subcontracted by a DDD Qualified Vendor.

Job Duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
● Provides leadership, mentoring, coaching and direct supervision of leaders overseeing: Nursing Administration, Administrative Reviews (Medical Records Review Consultants), Utilization Management, Maternal Child Health and Health Services Coordinators (PT, OT, and SLP).
● Manages the Division’s Medical Management Plan and Operational Review. Forecasts for strategic planning and key initiatives. Oversees the centralized medical management operations, including key performance metrics, policies, procedures, workflows, training, and auditing. Monitors and evaluates to ensure medical services meet professional and agency standards.
● Supports the CMO by representation in Committee meetings and work groups with DDD, State Agencies, Contractors and other stakeholders. Develops communication plans with external providers such as sub-contracted health plans, hospitals, and other State agencies as required to facilitate plan goals and objectives.
● Responsible for quality management and quality improvement process and evaluation of clinical services including Maternal Child Health and Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic and Treatment (EPSDT). Performs medical review etc. Responsible for the oversight and statistical analysis of utilization data for clinical programs.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge in:
● Pharmaceutical products and non-pharmaceutical procedures to treat diseases and illness includes knowledge of the mechanism of action, side effects, toxic nature, and drug interactions of medications and non-pharmaceutical interventions.
● Medical standards and regulations and public health services.
● Federal, State, local, and private funding sources and regulations related to healthcare management.
Skills in:
● Demonstrate knowledge and skills with individuals across the life span and from culturally/linguistically diverse backgrounds.
● Demonstrate continued growth and integration of knowledge, skills, and abilities/tasks of clinical practice.
● Integrate and apply theoretical knowledge.
Ability to:
● Relate and deal effectively with physicians, supervisors, peers, and others.
● Communicate in writing, including report preparation using technical data.
● Supervise and develop the potential of subordinates.
● Provide professional and community education with up-to-date evidence in the field of developmental disabilities.
