About the Role:

Assists with set up and execution of processes to express and purify antibodies and other protein therapeutic agents. Will also assist in carrying out biochemical and biophysical analyses to characterize the identity, purity and stability of novel therapeutics. Analyzes and presents data to lead scientists in an organized and timely manner. Coordinates closely with protein engineering and project teams. Performs work in collaboration with other members of the biologics lead optimization team as well as protein engineering teams. Makes detailed observations, analyzes data and interprets results with some supervision. Investigates, creates and develops new methods and technologies for project advancement. Obtains professional expertise through familiarity with scientific literature and educational tools. May participate in scientific conferences and contribute to scientific journals. This position will also support gene therapy research programs.

Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):

  • Performs experiments with some supervision in support of scientific activities and project goals involving antibody and protein production and characterization

  • Follows new methods and techniques and seeks out senior personnel for training and to discuss clarifications and explanations of methods and results

  • Generates complex biochemical and biophysical data sets following SOPs, and assists in data analysis

  • Assists in maintenance protein purification equipment and cleaning and stocking of equipment and rooms

  • Follows SOPs and organizes data for experiments conducted, and presents data to research team members

  • Complies with all SOPs, and safety and quality assurance standards at all times

  • May assist in research and support of gene therapy drug development

  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • BS/BA degree and some relevant experience preferred

  • Knowledge of basic chemical and biological principles

  • Ability to follow complex instructions to perform detailed experimental procedures

  • Understand and implement safe working practices in a laboratory environment

  • Able to execute experiments efficiently and suggest process improvements

  • Able to recognize patterns or inconsistencies in data results

  • Able to deduce meaningful results while conducting routine analyses or troubleshoot minor issues. Good knowledge of one scientific discipline

  • Developing knowledge of scientific principles, methods and techniques

  • Good knowledge and some experience working with discipline specific laboratory equipment/tools

  • Ability to work as part of a team

  • Good computer skills

  • Developing communications, problem-solving, analytical thinking, planning and organization skills
