Position Summary
Senior Originator coordinates origination activities globally, with a focus on South and North America, structuring physical deals and long-term contracts that create value for MPC’s trading portfolio. This role identifies, negotiates, and executes transactions that expand MPC’s commercial footprint, enhance trading optionality, and maximizing asset utilization.
The Senior Originator has four primary objectives:
Identify and secure high-value origination opportunities, while supporting and aligning with trading and other commercial groups
Develop physical and structured deals that enhance MPC’s trading portfolio
Build and maintain relationships with key counterparties and infrastructure providers
Ensure all transactions align with MPC’s strategic, risk, and compliance framework
Key Responsibilities
Identify and evaluate new opportunities across markets by analyzing fundamentals, regulations, infrastructure, and competitive dynamics.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to enhance market presence and uncover long-term partnership opportunities.
Lead the creation and execution of commercially viable deals aligned with strategic and risk frameworks, coordinating across legal, credit, and trading functions.
Ensure all activities comply with internal policies and maintain transparency through documentation, reporting, and risk mitigation.
Align with internal teams on supply, logistics, and capital planning to ensure cohesive execution and strategic consistency.
Work with trading and origination teams to assess impacts, manage exposures, and refine strategies across financial and physical positions.
Leverage market knowledge and relationships to anticipate shifts and shape organizational positioning in dynamic environments.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree required.
Seven (7) or more years of experience in Trading, Marketing or Commercial Development including profit/loss responsibility for Product Trading, Contract Negotiation and Scheduling (rail, truck, vessel and pipe).
