About the role

World Central Kitchen, Inc. (WCK) seeks a talented and committed Director, Community Fundraising professional, a key role on our Development Team, to oversee our growing digital, grassroots P2P and Small Business fundraising program. As a leader on a high performing and highly motivated team, the successful candidate must be a creative, tech-savvy development leader who loves to experiment with new digital and P2P fundraising strategies that harness community and grassroots efforts. This position will be instrumental in building a pipeline of loyal digital donors and peer fundraisers that can help us meet our ambitious goals. They will thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume, and dynamic environment and demonstrate proactive leadership and support with an entrepreneurial mindset.

The Director, Community Fundraising, will report to the Chief Development Officer, work collaboratively across other Development Team functions, and will lead a team. They will oversee their own portfolio - cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors.  This role requires a sincere commitment to WCK’s mission, at least 5-7 years’ experience working directly with community donors in a similar position, occasional travel, and the flexibility to support our efforts across multiple time zones during nights, holidays, and weekends. This role is intended to be a full-time hybrid exempt position, based in Washington DC, with a minimum 2 days on-site per week.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Digital Fundraising

  • Create and execute digital campaigns that attract new and returning supporters while retaining current supporters
  • Conceptualize innovative conversion strategies to grow digital revenue exponentially, including SMS
  • Identify untapped opportunities for growth to build a stronger donor community and to increase revenue
  • Using insight and analytics, monitor digital fundraising success, providing benchmarks and progress against goals

Peer to Peer Fundraising

  • Oversee creation and development of peer fundraisers resources, including third-party events
  • Develop fun, new P2P frameworks, such as athlete engagements (including events with sports teams), streaming opportunities, Kids Corps, etc.
  • Build relationships with creators and fundraisers and work across the development team to maximize opportunities (through celebrity engagement, corporate sponsorships, etc)
  • Develop systems for personalized giving pages and/or hosting fundraising events in local communities.

Small Business Partnerships

  • Develop framework and strategies to cultivate relationships with small businesses such as restaurants, artisan shops, food product, etc. in their efforts to support WCK
  • Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution OR any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • 5-7 years of community fundraising experience including planning, evaluating, and delivering successful online and digital campaigns that increase revenue
  • 3-5 years of experience leading, motivating and managing individuals and teams
  • Experience managing and maximizing returns from outside agencies
  • One or more years of recent experience utilizing Salesforce
  • Ability to identify, create and edit strong fundraising content
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Skilled at working with a variety of tech platforms, ideally Tiltify, Twitch, Discord, etc.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment and can easily pivot to disaster response mode when needed
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently and meet deadlines
  • Creative and innovative thinker, motivated by pushing the boundaries
  • Alignment with the mission and values of WCK
  • Must be able to deploy occasionally including internationally at short notice
  • Must have U.S. work authorization
  • Must have valid passport

Preferred candidates will also be proficient in other languages, written and spoken, and have previous WCK or related experience.
