Responsibilities
- Communicates and enforces Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) regulations, state and local regulations, and company policies.
- Demonstrates driver-guide techniques and maintenance duties.
- Evaluates student driver's abilities and training progress and documents student driver's skills progress.
- Reports trainees progress to management on a regular basis.
- Maintains records in the appropriate logs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must have previous experience as a driver-guide with Holland America/Princess-Alaska or equivalent experience.
- Current, valid driver's license, with three (3) years clean driving record. Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) will be requested.
- Must meet Company's clean driver eligibility requirements.
- Current, valid Commercial Driver's License, Class B with an air brake endorsement is required. (May be obtained through Company training course.)
- Must be certified as physically qualified through a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical and drug screen.
- Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in the use of computer business applications.
- Minimum age of 21 is required.
- Must pass a pre-employment background check.
- Minimum age of 18 years required to reside in company housing, where available.
- Participates in HAP’s sustainability program, aka “Sustain Alaska & the Yukon”, and efforts by actively recycling (where available), reducing waste, and educating guests about our commitment to the environment.
- Participate in HAP’s safety culture to ensure a safe workplace for all team members and a safe vacation experience for all guests.
- Dedicated to delivering excellent customer service to all guests, coworkers, and vendors.

- Must be eligible to work in the United States. Holland America-Princess is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time (e.g., H-2B status).
- Some experience in positions involving vehicle or automotive detailing is normally preferred for this job.
- Ability to prioritize work, maintain attention to time constraints, while working in a team or group environment.
- You must also have the ability to organize work, meet deadlines, maintain attention to detail and accuracy, supervise and manage staff.
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and external influences.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while achieving daily goals.
- Ability to support and comply with company policies, procedures and guidelines including support and comply with company health and safety standards.
- Ability to stand/walk/work on feet for minimum of 8 hours per day.
