Children's Behavioral Health Technician (BHT)
Location: Cape Girardeau, MO
Pay Range: $18.38 - $20.78/hour (Depending on experience)
Pay range for 'Floating BHT' is $19.59 - 21.99/hour.
Community Counseling Center offer's shift differentials for non-floating BHT staff who work an Evening or Overnight shift at its residential facilities.
Evening Shift: + $0.50/hour per hour worked on Evenings.
Overnight Shift: +$1.00/hour per hour worked on Overnights
Full-Time - Rotating of every other weekends:
- Evening Shift: 2:45pm - 10:45pmÂ
- Overnight Shift: 10:30pm - 6:30amÂ

The Program
Cottonwood is a 16 Bed Residential Treatment Facility serving children and adolescent patients. The program is intended for youth 7-18 years of age. The program offers an intensive residential treatment milieu and serves an alternative to hospitalization.
Your Job as a Behavioral Health Technician
As a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT), you will oversee clients' safety and mental well-being, assist with skill-building, participate in groups and social activities, and intervene in crisis situations. You will also take children to social and recreational activities such as bowling, swimming, and sports.
Essential Functions
- Provide care that promotes safety, comfort, and a therapeutic environment.
- Educate clients on daily living activities and self-care management.
- Teach functional living skills based on individual treatment plans.
- Collaborate with the treatment team to coordinate client care.
- Complete and chart client observations.
- Conduct personal belongings, room, and grounds checks.
- Ensure protective oversight and monitor clients' conditions.
- Transport clients to appointments as needed.
- Intervene in behavioral health crises, including seclusion and restraint interventions.
- Document according to clinical policies and procedures.
- Maintain certification in Pro-ACT and CPR/First Aid.
Minimum Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma / GED / HSE Required
- Preference will be given to those with previous mental health, healthcare, or experience working with youth
- Must hold or obtain by start date, MO Class E Driver's License (Class D for IL Residents), and proof of continuous auto insurance. Must also meet CCC's Motor Vehicle Record standards policy and have reliable transportation.
Also must have the following:
Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, ability to obtain a Class E license, and proof of continuous auto insurance. Must be able to pass CPR/FA training and ProACT training.
