Senior Research Associate / Associate Scientist, Biology

About the role

The successful candidate will be part of the biology team focusing on the advancement of novel therapeutic candidates that are designed to target critical signaling pathways in immunology and inflammation.  The ideal candidate will design and perform hands-on in vitro, cell-based, and ex vivo experiments to assess potency and examine mechanisms of action of our emerging pipeline assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute various in vitro, cell-based, and ex vivo assays to support characterization of biologics, enable lead selection, and elucidate mechanisms of action of multiple immunology therapeutics.
  • Perform high throughput screening assays for drug candidate selection with/without automation.
  • Support ex vivo analysis to examine drug potency and mechanisms of action.
  • Present rationale, design, and results of experiments to the project teams. 
  • Work collaboratively on multiple projects concurrently and coordinate activities across functions.
  • Maintain electronic lab notebook documentation and support daily lab operations including equipment maintenance and sample management.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in immunology/oncology/cell biology or other relevant discipline.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on lab experience in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry setting.
  • Strong mammalian cell culture skills and experience in running assays independently.
  • Hands-on experience with various laboratory techniques, including but not limited to ELISA, flow cytometry, AlphaScreen, TRF/HTRF, FRET, reporter assays, cytotoxicity assay, etc.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment to meet project timelines and goals. 
  • Excellent troubleshooting and data analysis skills (Excel, Prism, etc).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in immunology and inflammation focused research
  • Experience in novel assay development, assay optimization, and/or miniaturization. 
  • Experience with liquid handling instrumentation and automation.
  • Great written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present complex data at project team meetings.
