About the role

Description


Under the clinical direction of a radiologist and general supervision of the Director of Patient Access, the Patient Intake Coordinator supports daily front-office operations in an outpatient diagnostic imaging setting. This role is responsible for patient greeting, intake, registration, document verification, and coordinating accurate workflow to support imaging services. The Patient Intake Coordinator ensures exceptional customer service, accuracy, and compliance while maintaining a positive patient experience. Additional duties may be assigned based on operational needs.


Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Assist patients with completing required paperwork; enter, verify, and update demographics; obtain insurance information and photo ID as needed.
  • Address patients, staff, and visitors courteously, professionally, and promptly. 
  • Provide registration and general assistance to patients.
  • Receive, verify, and process prescriptions or verbal orders in alignment with company policy.
  • Scan documents into the Electronic Medical Record system and confirm all order information prior to the patient’s exam.
  • Verify referring provider’s full name and address with the patient to ensure order accuracy.
  • Identify and collect payment agreements and self-pay patients.
  • Assist in training new staff on intake responsibilities and workflow.
  • Utilize all relevant software systems.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA and uphold rights related to privacy, fairness, and dignity.
  • Attend required meetings, training, and in-service educational sessions.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Strong customer service and interpersonal communication abilities.
  • Ability to multitask efficiently while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Competency with computers, data entry, and medical office software systems.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Computer experience required.
  • Medical terminology preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position operates within outpatient clinical imaging centers and requires frequent patient interaction, accuracy in administrative tasks, and compliance with HIPAA and safety standards. Travel between multiple imaging center locations may be required.
