Reporting to the Vice-President, Commercial & Logistics, the Transportation & Logistics Director will function as a Senior leader supporting inbound and outbound logistics for across all CRH Canada group of companies across Ontario. In collaboration with key stakeholders, the Director will drive continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives within the logistics supply chain, while maintaining business continuity across all business units.
Responsibilities:
- Accountable for the full operational management of the transportation function, coordinating logistical requirements for each line of business, ensuring to meet peak demand requirements, while maximizing truck utilization and efficiency across all business units.
- Serve as a liaison between transportation, operations and other functional teams working collaboratively to ensure overall compliance and operational effectiveness within the province.
- Set best-in-class guidelines through building strategies, plans, policies and procedures based on operational analysis in order to maximize current operations or to plan for large-scale operational changes ensuring alignment.
- Ensure business deliverables for BUs are aligned, integrated, and cascaded throughout the logistics department to achieve performance expectations and exceed operational and financial metrics.
- Identify, implement and maintain best in class transportation technology programs, consistently acting as local champion for rollouts.
- Manage vendors to ensure best value for services or products provided, including sourcing, negotiating, and performance.
- Report on relevant activities on a regular basis to the Senior Management team, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of relevant KPIs.
- Evaluate the challenges faced by the business and take action to mitigate risks and develop opportunities.
- Drive any necessary culture change and improvement in business performance to deliver strategic goals.
- Support and drive Health and Safety processes and procedures within the organization implementing a behavioral approach to safety and a zero-tolerance culture.
Requirements:
- Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma with 10+ years of experience within a similar role.
- 5+ years of experience managing a cross-functional team, within a matrix-driven environment.
Ability to develop, maintain and communicate appropriate metrics, interpret trends, and adjust strategies as needed in response to changing market conditions and/or role requirements. - Experience operating in and influencing at a strategic level.
- Excellent organizational, planning skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
- Customer focused & adaptable, with superb communication skills.
- Excellent Computer skills – Excel, PowerPoint, Word
