About the role
The Performance Improvement Coordinator Senior provides leadership, facilitation, coordination and education for performance improvement activities and groups within the VCU Health System.
Using proven PI and statistical tools and methods, the Performance Improvement Coordinator Senior assists in designing projects; coordinating and/or performing data collection; analyzing and reporting/interpreting data results (when appropriate, uses statistical process control); developing and implementing action plans and documenting the project and outcomes in written format.
The Performance Improvement Coordinator Senior assists in identifying performance improvement opportunities within the organization, prioritizing the opportunities, collaborating with leaders and clinicians, planning and initiating intervention collaboratively and independently and monitoring the impact.Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire: One of the following specialty certifications is required within one (1) year of hire: Project Management Professional (PMP) Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification Quality/PI related ASQ certifications Other relevant certification Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment: Current license by the Commonwealth of Virginia is required if incumbent holds an RN professional license Maintenance of 1 of the following certifications is required, and 1 additional certification is preferred: Project Management Professional (PMP) Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification Quality/PI related ASQ certifications Other relevant certification Experience REQUIRED: Minimum of four (4) years experience PI/Patient Safety. Experience leading change initiatives in a large, complex health care delivery system. Experience utilizing internal and external initiatives to lead/direct complex groups/ projects and restructuring processes to make them understandable, lean and efficient Experience PREFERRED: Previous experience with organization-wide performance improvement and/or coordinating projects in an academic medical center with a wide variety of services Education/training REQUIRED: Master's Degree in a healthcare field, Business Administration, Quality Engineering or related field from an accredited program Education/training PREFERRED: N/A Independent action(s) required: Independently leads and manages complex organization-wide projects/initiatives and effectively manages relationships. Independently establishes and manages project plans and/or contractors, milestones and budgets. Leads groups to meet regulations/standards (etc.) of local, state and federal laws/regulations related to assigned area. Takes an active role in staff development, designing and formalizing departmental processes and directs all actions.
