Job Description

What we expect of you, day to day: 

As a Senior Data Science Manager, you are a key member of Visa’s advisory service Visa Consulting & Analytics (VCA) and part of Visa’s global Data Science community. You are accountable for leading the blueprint, development and delivery of data driven strategies and solutions for Visa’s external clients in the Central European Region. In this role, you collaborate with management consultants, account executives, business development and other internal functions to support our clients’ with their most pressing issues and biggest opportunities. Your innovative and scalable data science solutions help drive business performance with a clear commercial ‘value’ and measurable ‘return’.

Principal Responsibilities 

• Provides subject matter expertise and evangelizes the creative use of data science to solve business problems with external clients  
• Collaborating with the internal and external partners to fully understand business requirements and desired business outcomes  
• Works with VCA consultants in market to drive data science business development opportunities across key accounts to meet VCA revenue targets and with the objective to drive revenue growth for our clients and Visa 
• Identifies how data science and predictive techniques can be used to enhance client profitability, card and payments portfolio management across acquisition, usage and retention 
• Designs and delivers powerful business-centric insights from data through storyboarding, analytics, visualization and machine learning
• Has execution proficiency in handling multiple medium to large data science projects along with rest of the stakeholders in the project team within timelines and budget requirements
• Performs quality assurance on data and deliverables on own and potentially colleagues’ complex data science deliverables
• Ensures all project documentation is up to date
• Imports and embeds global data science solutions in Europe and actively sells in services through client proposals
• Enhances existing solutions and approaches by promoting new methodology and best practices in data science field  

Qualifications

• Proven skills in translating analytics output to actionable recommendations and delivery
• Results oriented with strong analytical, consultative, and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor
• Graduate/Post Graduate degree (Masters or Ph.D.) in Quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Operational Research, Computer Science, Economics, or engineering or equivalent experience
• Hands-on experience with modern distributed systems, including both Hadoop/SQL and Apache Spark
• Hands-on experience with one or more data analytics/programming tools such as R/Python
• Experience in the application of descriptive analytics, predictive modelling and machine learning technique to business problems
• Experience planning, organizing, and managing end to end projects with diverse cross-functional teams
• Ability to tailor data-driven results and communicate with impact to various audience levels, incl. senior business leaders. Experience of having worked in a consulting-like environment and client-facing project roles
• Full working proficiency in English and a Scandinavian language

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in payments industry (bank, credit reference agencies, Fintech, merchants) or management-consulting firm
• Hands on experience on processing extremely large data sets. Knowledge of payment network transactional data is a plus
• Experience building and cultivating teams
