Job Description

 

The Lead Logistics Technician role is an exciting and challenging position supporting the METHOCELTM production facility. Successful candidates will progress as Methocel Lead Logistics Technicians through both the Packaging LLT and Operations LLT jobs. These jobs exist to provide leadership, technical, mechanical and tactical skills and coordination of work for safe operation in the Methocel Operations and Packaging/Logistics areas.  Discretionary time should be spent updating procedures, training, or at the request of the SAC/IRL.  The LLT will be expected to balance this with the field work of monitoring equipment, doing housekeeping, completing safety checks, etc.  

 

*Everyone is expected to perform tasks that they are trained and qualified to do when needed/asked. Flexibility will be needed when operating the plant with the following work assignments, and all Lead Logistics Technicians will be expected to help out operations and logistics team members when needed.

• Working under the direction of the SAC-IRL
• Participating in efficient and effective operations of all shift activities
• Completing safety checks
• Performing housekeeping/5S in the area of the work assignment 
• Knowing, understanding and following plant operating discipline, policies, and procedures 
• Following all Department, Site and Global Policies & Standards
• Performing thorough plant rounds for assigned areas
• RTMS Facility Representative and Job Representative verification on all areas of the plant that they are broke in on
• Working with shift personnel and technical staff to optimize plant performance
• Assisting non-routine logistics, operations, and maintenance activities for each shift that they are assigned
• Attend or makeup all plant safety meetings
• Providing operating discipline improvements
• Perform procedure reviews and/or update as needed
• Follow current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)
• Complete any operating and equipment checklists
• Document process issues in the appropriate tool and location (i.e., Logbook, Packaging Dashboard, MLT, etc.)
• Communicating role related information between shifts and day staff 
• Working with the Training Coordinator to identify personal training needs
• Safe operational procedures and good housekeeping are essential parts of the job, particularly with respect to handling (Methocel, brine, steam/water) at elevated temperatures (in excess of 100° C)
• The safe, effective performance of a variety of materials handling functions critical to the safe, efficient operation of the METHOCEL handling areas. Including the unloading of (Methyl Chloride Railcars), loading of Methanol and Dimethyl Ether railcars as well as the loading and unloading of any raw materials, by products, waste, and Methocel product.
• Operations specialists on each shift will be responsible to assist and backup, as necessary, the Operations LLT activities and equipment
• This job also includes responsibility for Logistics workstations and Control Room workstations associated with IP21 for transfers (loads and offloads)
• Complete compliance and non-compliance MTL and CTT tasks
• To take process/raw material samples/in process product (defined areas) 
   

Job Requirements

 

Required Skills & Experience:

 

• Must pass an examination comprised of oral and field portions encompassing the process equipment, operating concepts and technical principles, covering all areas of job responsibility including the Methocel Operations Lead Logistics Technician and the Packaging Lead Logistics Technician roles.
• Must be physically able to lift 50 lbs and climb stairs 
• Develop an understanding of ABB programming
• Develop an understanding of Aspen/IP21 (use with quality driven plant operations and troubleshooting plant process and equipment issues)
• Cover shipping clerk in 374 building
• Operate all Methocel Packaging and Logistics equipment.
• Be able to troubleshoot Methocel Packaging and Logistics equipment – both mechanically and from a programming perspective
• Perform minor maintenance on Methocel Packaging and Logistics equipment
