Senior Accountant

Job Purpose:

Join Ball Horticultural Company, a global leader in the ornamental horticulture market, as a Senior Accountant and help cultivate financial success from the ground up. In this role, you'll take ownership of critical accounting functions, including monthly close procedures and intercompany transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance across our diverse business operations. Your strong communication skills will allow you to collaborate effectively with teams at all levels of the organization, driving efficiency and fostering financial growth in a dynamic and evolving industry.

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform thorough account reconciliations for balance sheet and income statement accounts, investigating discrepancies and resolving issues promptly
• Process and accrue monthly intercompany recharges
• Maintain monthly intercompany reconciliations
• Prepare and review monthly business unit consolidated financial statements, analyzing variances to prior year and budget
• Prepare journal entries in support of month close
• Support annual audit process through preparation of supporting workpapers 
• Ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed

Requirements

• 
  
• · Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting roles, with a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices
• · Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• · Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• · Financial ERP systems (SAP experience preferred)
• · Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data
• · Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• · Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams 
• · Effective organizational skills with ability to prioritize responsibilities and manage workload
• · Ability to work independently
• · Ability to manage complexity by evaluating pros and cons, risks and benefits of different solution options
• · Ability to optimize work processes by separating and combining activities into an efficient workflow

Physical Requirements

• Occasionally may lift/carry and push/pull up to 40 pounds
• Ability to sit/stand 100% of the day
• Ability to use hands/fingers 100% of the day

Salary Range- 80-100K Annually

Ball Horticultural Company is a leading breeder and distributor of flowers and vegetables around the globe.  Located in the Suburb of West Chicago (near Naperville and Geneva), our 60-acre property boasts 10 acres of display gardens.  The gardens are primarily used as a sales and marketing tool but also provide a great relaxation opportunity for staff at the home office.  Perennials, annuals, vegetables, roses and shrubs are blooming from May through September.
