Senior Accountant - Apartments ($93,600.00-$112,700.00)

Position Summary:

Job Duties:

• Responsible for day-to-day aspects of job cost accounting related to Apartment – Reinvestment, Major Repairs and Water Intrusion (construction defect), includes but not limited to: coding review and approval, capital authorization confirmation, and budget updates, etc.
• Responsible for month end close, which includes preparing and reviewing monthly journal entries, reports and reconciliation.
• Work with Project/Construction Management group to review project setup and accounting treatment.
• Support audits – both internal and external.
• Monthly preparation and review of fixed asset additions (GAAP and Tax) for each asset by property.
• Quarterly review and preparation of fixed asset abandonments/retirements and identify appropriate GAAP and tax treatment for each asset by property.
• Preparation of fixed asset tax forecast in collaboration with the Tax, Fixed Asset, and Planning departments.
• Prepare variance analysis between actual and forecasted or plan capital.
• Assist with the preparation of Capital Authorization requests.
• Assist with the preparation of cashflow schedule, adhoc analysis, business planning and forecasting.
• Assist with the preparation of quarterly Board Meeting/Investment Committee material as requested.
• Assist with special projects and other duties as requested.

Minimum Qualifications / Other Expectations:

•  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3 to 5 years of accounting experience with progressively increased responsibility. Job cost accounting, real estate or development industry experience a plus.
• CPA or MBA preferred.
• Microsoft Office and Google experience with advanced Excel / Google Sheets skills utilizing v-lookups and pivot tables. SAP experience a plus.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and has the ability to work with all levels in the organization.
• Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills. Willingness to multi-task, embrace change and ability to deal with ambiguity.
• Detail oriented, highly self-motivated, positive team-player attitude, and ability to work with minimal supervision.

 Compensation:

Base Pay Range: $93,600.00 - $112,700.00

 

Actual placement within this range may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.
