About the role

Description

The Department of Political Science in the College of Arts and Sciences at Stony Brook University is seeking part-time, non-tenure track faculty appointments at the rank of Adjunct Lecturer.

Duties and responsibilities include teaching in our Master of Arts in Public Policy program in various formats, such as in-person, hybrid, and online. Specific public policy course topics include statistics, economics, health, environment, housing, energy, law and other specialized topics related to public policy. MA in Public Policy or a related field with professional and teaching experience is required. PhD, JD or ABD (with or without MPP) in Public Policy, Political Science, or related field, and demonstrated evidence of potential for excellence in teaching at the university level is preferred.

Applicants will be contacted on a rolling basis to meet Departmental needs.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Public Policy or related field with professional and teaching experience.
  • Ability to teach courses including statistics, economics, health, environment, housing, and other specialized topics related to public policy.
  • Demonstrated experience and commitment to student-centered learning and teaching.
  • The ability to collaboratively work in multidisciplinary settings.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD, JD or ABD (with or without MPP) in Public Policy, Political Science, or related field.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive, collegial, and inclusive environment.
  • Relevant public policy/administration work experience in government, non profit, and private sector organizations.
  • Demonstrated integration of professional development and applied practices into course instruction.
