Summary

The San Jose Storage Design Center (SDC) is part of Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. (TAEC).  We are responsible for the design and development of hard disk drives (HDDs), solving interesting and challenging problems and supporting Toshiba in meeting the world’s ever-growing storage needs.  SDC is a relatively small but diverse group, with a flexible and supportive work environment.  We are within walking distance of many restaurants and the light rail, and just a few minutes drive from the San Jose Airport. 

As a member of the HDD R&D servo team, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting hard disk drive technologies, with seasoned engineers as well as other functional teams, to meet product requirements. The ideal candidate for this position will have a distinguished record in the HDD industry.

Please note that this is a temporary assignment and will be payrolled through our staffing partner. 
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Design, implement, debug, and evaluate various aspects of HDD servo related projects.
• Take on large and very complex assignments with little supervision.
• Mentor/support junior engineers as required.
• Collaborate with members inside and outside of a core project team to meet product specifications.
• Produce quality embedded firmware, participate in peer design reviews and provide supporting design/evaluation documentation.
• Communicate effectively and work closely with other remote development teams.

Requirements:

• 15+ years of years of directly applicable experience.
• Strong fundamentals in signal processing, servo systems and control theories.
• Excellent fundamentals in relevant HDD technologies.
• Proficient in C/C++.
• Comfortable with Matlab
• Excellent communication skills.
• Comfortable working in a collaborative, team environment, but able to work productively independently.

Education:

• Bachelor’s in a relevant engineering discipline, M.S or PhD preferred.

Salary Range: $156,300 - $232,000
